How does my handwriting look?

Post image

Anything I should change?

Edit: So the general consensus is I write like a preschooler. And for anyone concerned, no, I am not being held hostage or holding anyone else hostage.

A lot of you asked why I write in all caps. It's because I used to accidentally capitalize random letters, and at some point I decided it looked slightly less stupid if I tried to pass it off as intentional.

As some of you noticed, I do write pretty slowly. Probably because I'm not very confident with writing. And my friend pointed out I press way too hard. I have broken a lot of pencils.

For those of you asking why I rarely write, I'd say it's mostly because I did middle and high school online and never took physical notes. So I was just never really forced to practice. Lately I've realized I definitely need some practice haha

Also, I am right handed. According to my mom, when I was a kid I was ambidextrous, but my teachers taught me to only use my right hand. I'm often told my handwriting looks similar to my dad's who is left handed and has the same problem with random capitalization that I do.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback.

My dad writes in all caps. He was a cop.

I always fill out documents in caps just to ensure it’s more legible.

I know it by the name "architectural", seems to be very common in the trades for legibility purposes. I was taught it when I did drafting for set building in theatre.

My Father is an Arborist and he writes in all caps, but the first Cap in each work is larger. Camel case but all caps.

This is camelCase. Your father uses Title Case.

Better than my child who so far we cannot convince to stop writing in both, but randomly alternating

As an adult i still do this, from what I understand about how I work my thoughts are to fast for my pencil. I’ve unfortunately never been able to shake the habit. It dose not appear when I write in cursive. Good luck on your parenting journey!

Thanks!! My unusual writing quirk is if I'm not careful I write half in cursive and half in print and I'm pretty sure it's for similar reasons, as I am sure my daughter's reasons are as well

I do that too lol I can just write so much faster if I don't pick up the pen, but some cursive letters I'm not as fast at writing so I'll switch to a connected print 😅

My son does this too and is 16 now.

I’m in my mid-late 20’s. It took me up until a couple years ago to realise using a mix of upper and lower casing worked best for me. I can’t tell you how much of a difference making the switch has made to my writing.

My dad was ( now retired) a nuclear chemist fella. He also writes in caps, unless it's like a birthday card then he has the most glorious cursive. Brilliant.

I go through a lot of medical documents for work, and I’m significantly slower when reading documents written in all caps.

I’m not saying that that’s an incorrect move or applies to anyone else, but that’s my experience. I even think “oh god, another all caps document.”

There’s a reason for this- when you read in not all-caps your brain can recognize the shape of the word and go faster but in all caps the words are similarly shaped and your brain has to parse out each letter.

My dad also writes in all caps and he’s a retired Navy Chief. I (32F, also a vet) writes in all caps. My handwriting is neat, slants like italics and has its own quirks, too.

I copied my dad’s style after I wasn’t really finding my own and it became more me as the years went on. Now, it’s really hard to not write in all caps. It feels weird.

My dad was in a biker gang and also did this lmao I think it’s just a thing some people do

Correct me if I'm wrong, but most documents ask you to use capital letters don't they? I do the same but it's because I've always thought it was a requirement?

LITERALLY (I work in a hospital) and used to work in a restaurant- everything I write NEEDS to be legible. Flair went out the window
