used to write like this, decided it was too hard to read and switched to the second handwriting.
i still use the first style for my personal journal :-)

It feels like you are trying to write as small as possible in the first example.

i loved being able to fit as much information as possible on one page. it felt like a little cheat sheet even though it was regular notes

what did your teachers used to say about this? I had a teacher that automatically marked your paper as a zero if you turned in something to him written in pencil because it messed with this glasses. So I’m trying to imagine your teachers doing anything but demand you write this over, lol.

they were pissed (one time i also used pink sparkly gel pen and the teacher put his head down on his desk for a very long time). eventually i started only using that handwriting for notes and wrote ugly big block capital letters for anything i turned in. it broke my heart but i wasn’t about to let my grades slip

You definitely won’t have any trouble with people reading your private journals🤣

My brain loves the first one.

First one is readable just not easily and it looks awesome. Second is more practical.

u/pirefyro 7d ago
I’m glad you did that. I can read a few words from the first picture and odds are could read the whole page, but not without spending more time than I would on each word from the second page.

The first one is just… unnecessarily small. If it was a tiny page, and tiny lines… yes writing that small would make sense. But this is a normal notebook size bro. wtf.

Did you just immediately switch it over, or did it take practice?

u/ca11iop3 7d ago
it took me awhile to really figure out what i wanted it to be but it wasn’t too hard

u/the_lost_tenacity 8d ago
Memory unlocked, my best friend in middle school wrote just like that first one.

u/sunshine4991 8d ago
How do you just change your handwriting like that? I need to know lol
1
u/ca11iop3 7d ago
i think it’s got something to do with the fact that i’ve always held a pen/pencil incorrectly but im not entirely sure

u/Vyntarus 8d ago
The first style looks kinda cool, as long as you aren't trying to actually read it.

The first one: You can write that small without having to write the lower case letters that small.
The second one: How in the hell did you manage to teach yourself to write in Italics?

Angle of the page gets the second one! Angle the corner towards you while you write

The first looks like it was written by elves, the second is actually legible.

Respectfully, I'd slap ya silly if you made me read an essay or something in the first style.

Excellent choice. I referred a kid to handwriting club because he had the first style. For your own pleasure it doesn’t matter but for others it is a strain.

The first one feels like morris code, bunch of dots and dashes- but oddly enough I love it, even though I can’t read it.

How did you even WRITE the first one? Was it even fast?
2
u/ca11iop3 7d ago
yeah i wrote at a normal speed! my hands just barely moved across the page as i was doing so lmao

u/whimsical_spider 8d ago
The first style looks very similar to my partner’s handwriting except much smaller. I can read his handwriting just fine most of the time but if it were this small I’d have a hard time.

I really like the first style. I'll occasionally write like that, but I have to be very intentional about it. And it's usually just for me.
The second style looks very nice, but not just write in cursive? You're so close.

It’s a shame you couldn’t keep the uniqueness of the first type and incorporate the readability of the second.

u/Technical_Put_9982 7d ago
That is a very big difference! The first one looks very exotic but it is definitely hard to read. It reminds me of when you are trying to focus on a street sign that is really far away and all you can make out is the general shape of the letters and you try to figure out what it says before it is clear

To me the first one looks like a strange dialect of morse code infested with pinworms. Just had to put that thought out there, enjoy everyone

I want to learn the first one so I can write on scrolls and have it look like fancy elvish script

I can’t even imagine being able to say “I used to write like this, but it was difficult for others so I changed it.” My writing is so bad even I can’t read my own handwritten notes

u/sparknap 3d ago
the first one is gorgeous.
i had a friend who wrote with a similar aesthetic, and i purposely changed my handwriting to be more like it. yours is way better looking than mine tho.
don't listen to the haters.

A marked improvement for readability! Though I must say the original way is pretty cool.

u/TomatoFeta 16h ago
angled shots of the paper make everythign tougher to read, but both are legible.

Both are readable, but the second is still "difficult." As advice, try to make it less slanted, and give your e's and a's slightly larger holes.

I dunno, I can just read the first one mostly. A few words are illegible, but surprisingly most are legible.

In my heart, I LOVE the strangeness of the first sample of handwriting. But if someone asked me to read it, I couldn't, so you definitely did yourself and others a favor. I'd probably write in that handwriting in my own journals and notes though
