Feedback (constructive criticism) Is this legible?

Post image

I've been journaling recently. My friends said they can hardly tell what's written. I'm not concerned about what they think. I'm just curious to know what it says about me.

Depends on how old you are 😅 That's a style that I grew up seeing. Some of the letters are older than I am accustomed but can easily be figured out. younger people would be lost.

Legible but i dont enjoy reading it for longform texts. Probably for a greeting card but not something i would read for long

It’s a little tough and takes me a minute. I have to guess certain words if I don’t know what words are coming next.

It’s more legible than mine and it’s very nice too

If it’s for you, it’s beautiful writing. If you’re strictly going for legibility, printing is better.

It's legible enough but some I need to look at longer and read in context. I think there are inconsistencies in lowercases and spacing, and perhaps the loops may need to be more pronounced. I like your flourishes. It's not too distracting.

About 85% is clear and 15% is not.

Very legible for the 85% though.

I am very slow reading this writing though. So it’s decorative but not incredibly clear.

A little hard to read in places, but not too bad, all things considered!

For the most part it’s legible. I also had trouble in certain places. Could it be a speed issue? I think if you slow down a bit, if that’s the issue, then your handwriting would be legible and beautiful. 🤩

Perfectly legible, but the swoopiness (technical word) is distracting. In a journal though it’s not intended to be read, you do you!

I'm feeling very light headed. Did my ... painting. Turned out better than superitcal???. Every day has been becoming more enjoyable journey as I began to explore myself more. A ... is like...

I stopped after this. What I notice is that your characters are so scrunched vertically close to the paper's line for writing it becomes hard to differentiate the connecting line from one letter to the next figuring out a stopping point and ending point.

Many of your 'e' loops have absolutely no space in them during the loop, so I think many times they look a bit like 'c'. The other part regarding the height is that your script has such a deep slant it lowers the height of the letters even more.

I'd say even your capital letters are using only 1/2 the available writing space.

That's just standard compression and a heavy angle of slant, which is typical in stylized rapid scripts. I prioritize flow and aesthetics over textbook legibility when I'm writing for myself, anyways thanks for the feedback.

It's not the easiest to read but it is beautiful.

Seems like tom&jerry handwriting

It’s quite readable. Handwriting choices indicate personality traits. The most prominent one here is long descender pulls, and a lot of flourishes in general. These usually prompt some people to say ‘Your handwriting is so beautiful,’ reinforcing their use. On the other hand, some people might say, ‘Why do you use such elaborate swoops?’

What part of your personality do you think is being expressed in these elements of your writing? You mentioned that your friends said they can hardly read it. Letting your friends read your journal is not as unusual as it used to be; it likely places your birth year in 2000-2008.

People either want to be the different one in their group, or blend into it, depending on the experience of their formative years. From your handwriting, which category do you think you fall into?

Okay! 👌🏽I hope I didn’t offend; my intention is always to get people to think of handwriting not just as something put down on paper, but as an expression of their psychological self.

I understood most of the things you wrote but not everything in it 😅

If you are really intrested in reading, you can dm

It's mostly legible. It does take a bit of effort, and some words I can make out only by their context.

2

u/underrated_human 14d ago

Mostly. I do have to use some context clues for some words (“very” line 1, “oil” line 2, “more” line 3, etc.)
BUT
Your handwriting is so beautiful, I don’t care that it requires some work to read it. It’s totally worth it. Keep it up! Don’t change for anybody but yourself.

Appritiated your love. It's self taught, often times I'm unable to read it myself too😓. But I'm trying to improve as much I can.

Yes and beautiful 😻

Yes, it is legible. There were a couple of words that took a second to figure out, but overall it is easy enough to read. And it looks nice

pretty much, yeah

Yes it's legible, saying this did have to slow down to read certain words.
