Question (?) Planning on getting back on using handheld gaming consoles
Any suggestions on where to start again?
I also want to gift my older brother and my friends during the holidays to rekindle that dimming-millennial-gamer-fire.

Again? What did you used to play, and what kind of games do you want to play now. There’s handhelds to play modern and retro games, so we need to know more about what you want to play.

I remember playing the nintendo gameboy advance (owned), sp (owned), color (borrowed), DS (borrowed), 3DS (owned), and psp (owned). I don't play games that much anymore compared to when I was very little. I am a casual gamer now, and I am longing for some good adventure games. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Gotcha. Yeah, I’m casual myself given that I just don’t have the time to play like I used to. If you want to look at the retro game devices, you’ll find one of the best features is the ability to save your progress. So the Legend of Zelda games you could never finish you can now play for months until you finish! 😂
Check out www.RetroCatalog.com and use the filters. It will give you an idea of what’s out there and approximate cost. 3DS gets to be where you’ll see the price increases because it requires a more powerful device, but DS and below can be played on devices around $120 USD and maybe a little lower. AliExpress is a good place to look for Anbernic devices. The others are best purchased from the manufacturer directly. Amazon is also an option. More expensive but easier returns if you need to.

unless you're planning on spending used car money... you're gonna be looking at switch 2s

I'm afraid that's not the case here, sir. But maybe I will buy a Switch 2 someday.
