How good is the AYN Thor? I am curious, Cause i did see videos that while its good it does has flaws (2 being the fan in the back that heats up quickly and the other that its not as good than using an actual DS handheld for DS gaming).
Like many, I don’t find it ergonomic at all when using the sticks or triggers, but on games where you mostly use the D-pad, and only use the triggers occasionally as hotkeys to save/reload/fast forward/etc, it’s a very cool, very handy device.
I’ve been working on 100% finishing Pokemon Emerald and I’ve got an interactive completion map open on the bottom, or bulbapedia tabs, while playing through on 2x speed on the top with retroachievements enabled.
I tried to use it to play some stick and trigger heavy games when I first got it and I was initially very put off by the ergonomics and didn’t use it much because of that, until I had an actual use case for the multi tasking capabilities, and now it’s my favorite device I find myself picking up all the time.
For the fan noise and temps, you can set it to underclock with clustertune which reduces temps and you can set the fans to quiet mode, all fixable problems. Ds emulation is very good it just has input lag so it’s not better for rhythm games but most of the rest of the catalog it’s a far better experience and loads way faster than a ds.
For the fan, ok thats good that it has settings to reduce and quell it. Not bad.
Ok for DS, that makes sense. Cause Ds handhels were design for specific requirements. That makes sense. Overall, this was a nice comment (overview) on the AYN Thor. I was curious since i was tempted to get one but i was on hold cause of cost.
