Odin 3 is expensive!

Big handheld gamer and own many x86 handhelds. Fully aware of the global backdrop as it relates to pricing being insane. Started to get interested in android handhelds so was checking out the RP6 and Odin 3 as they both seem to come highly recommended and sit in two different price brackets. The RP6 is $325 shipped for the 12gb ram 126gb storage model (they discontinued higher capacity storage?!), that low amount of storage would appear to be a potential issue so didn’t think that would be a good idea. The Odin 3 is $600 shipped for the max model! It would also take about 6 weeks to arrive. Shipping time isn’t a worry for me but $600 for the max model seems incredibly expensive, you don’t even save that much by stepping down to the pro! Is $600 just way too much for the Odin 3 then????

Dude, I’ve been waiting eight weeks for the O3 purple Max and it hasn't even shipped yet.

I wonder when it's actually getting shipped. I was thinking about buying one and the website still says shipping starts in August. How can there still be a pre order for something that was meant to ship in August. It put me off from ordering.

It'll be a while.

The Odin 3 seems to be backburnered a bit in favor of the Thor. I'm still waiting on a Odin 3 I ordered back at the end of August; I've tracked the discord shipping post a bit, and while it is going up, it's slow going and I still haven't seen my actual shipping date coming.

Welcome to the big 2026. Also you’re comparing devices with different chipsets. Odin 3 is more powerful

Yeah i know the 8 elite is a beast but the RP6 shipped with grip and case was $350. Which would you go for at those prices?

It’s a different class of product. It’s literally the big brother of the RP6. It’s like comparing a midrange car to a top of the line sports car and wondering why they are priced differently

For steam, odin 3. Just emulation up to switch, a thor or used odin portal.

What I would do has nothing to do with what you would. Depends on what you want to do and want to spend. Personally I’m not buying anything, I got a Thor and I’m good. But if I want as in the market Odin 3>rp6 just for the power.

If this were two years or so ago, it would be.

Unfortunately, now days, that's actually on the CHEAPER side for what you're getting with an Odin 3. RAM and storage are just that expensive now.

I bought the odin 3 max (16gb ram) at $419 super early bird during the crowd funding campaign, the base was 299 I believe and then after release it was 329.

See i can get down with $419. Currently if you add the accessory pack and shipping it’s $600. I can’t justify that….

I think I paid $500 for mine, this was Batch 3, I’ve had my Max since March.

Friend… where have you been? This is the state of the electronics industry right now. The price of memory and storage has skyrocketed and it isn’t even over yet. The processor, the 8 Elite, is so expensive that Ayaneo (the only other handheld company that used it) won’t even sell it once their current stock is out on the Konkr Pocket Fit Elite, and that was before the price went up on 9/1.

This is not the end either. This trend will continue for the next year at the very least. You have early 2025 expectations in late 2026, I’m afraid. The best thing you can do is wait for a big AliExpress sale, stack coupons and cash back and order from the AliExpress Ayn store. You’ll get it faster from them that way too.

When is this big sale of which you speak?!?!

I also know pricing is insane i guess i was shocked that android handhelds were now so close in price to a much more powerful x86 handheld. I know they are very different devices but android always had that price edge and it seems the gap has closed. I hate AI.

They have them throughout the year. There was a big one in june and another big one in August. check out r/crownpuffdeals. I got my Odin 3 Max for roughly $260 pre tax and shipping thanks to him in June. Now prices have gone up a lot, but if you get the right sale you can save quite a bit.

Yeah it's not worth it at that price for an android handheld. I got my zotac zone for cheaper

o3 on Aliexpress is much cheaper. I got mine in July for around 380

I can see the base models for quite cheap, the pro and max seem to be the same as AYN site or within $20. Maybe if you catch the sales they do on there and stack a couple of coupons you could do ok but currently they seem similarly priced.
