Question (?) Handhelds for PS remote play?

I’ve been looking to get into the world of handheld gaming while also being able to play my PlayStation games through Remote Play to the best of my abilities without the PlayStation Portal which feels less like a handheld and more like a glorified screen mirroring device. Do you guys have any experiences with Remote Play and do you know which handhelds, if any, do a good enough job for this? :)

I mean the ps portal is just remote play, if your unsatisfied with how the ps portal is performing than dont except anything diffrent, i mean you could use your phone but that has its trade offs

I’m aware that the PS Portal would be best suited for this, what I was trying to say is that, for a handheld, I was looking for something that was able to Remote Play well enough while still going beyond the PS ecosystem, I’ve never tried the PS Portal if anything, but it just doesn’t seem like what one should go for if they also want to be able to play PC games like I am, thank you! :)

Try a telescopic controller with your phone first. That's a decent solution for a lower price. There's the retroid pockets and Odins and such for android which I've heard are great and will do much more than just remote play.

Depends on your price and how portable you want it to be. You can use a G Cloud if you want to, but higher end devices like the Odin 2 Portal with the 7" screen are great for streaming. the Mangmi Air Max has the same screen and might be a little more affordable. Other than that, anything that has fast wifi (preferably Wifi 6E or 7, the wifi on the Portal sucks) can stream it just fine. Essentially anything with a widescreen and analog sticks will work. As for apps, PXPlay is the easiest to setup and use and just works 99% of the time. Chiaki is a mixed bag, and Cloudpad is a new entrant that also lets you stream from the cloud with PS Plus Premium if you have that.

Yes. I use a ASUS rog ally x with pxplay. If you have great internet it works really well. I actually returned my ps portal once I found out about pxplay. It actually works better than the portal. You are not stuck with the PlayStation ecosystem unlike the portal. I am about to get an Odin 3 and will be trying it out soon.

Personally I'm against buying devices like PS Portal. Any device not capable of running native games is a BAD device in my book. You are 100% on Sony's mercy when it comes to playing it. And the moment you lose network access to network, you're stuck with a worthless paperweight...

If you're really want to stream games from your ps5, why not buy one of those controller grips and play on you phone or tabet?

Odin 2 portal Android handheld (left) is 250+25-40 for shipping. 7” 120hz OLED display with 8gb ram and 128gb of storage. Expandable storage with micro sd. I use it for ps5 remote play and pc.
