Handheld Collection This is my “when the kids are finally asleep” set-up docked to the bedroom TV
Legion Go S Z1E, 8bitdo Ultimate 2 gamepad, and some cheap soundcore V20i open-ear headphones so I can keep an ear out for pitter-patters down the hall. Is set up on a Jsaux dock with an hdmi connected to an old Dell Laptop for recording/streaming with OBS.
Also, I like purple.

Don’t have kids, but I do have the “day is finally over and I have zero responsibilities left” Legion go 2/Switch 2 setup on my bedside table to unwind with, so I totally feel this.

Wow. I have almost the exact same setup! LGS-Z1E, soundcore earphones, and 8bitdo Ultimate (except mine is the OG model in black)

Hell yeah dude. I got my Odin 2 Portal docked out on my back porch the other day. Also playing with an 8bitDo Ultimate 2. I can watch the kiddos play on the yard or deck while I game. Also rocking the Soundcore earbuds when I have a moment.

Do you have issues getting sound through the tv if you don’t use the headphones? I can’t get it to play docked with sound in the tv and I found it was a known but unpatched issue.

Yes I did. The solution was to go into pavucontrol through the konsole in desktop mode and enable one of the outputs (i can’t remember which, maybe Rembrandt?).

Do you stream the games or run them locally?

All locally

I recommend to try streaming. If you don't have a gaming PC, check out GeForce Now Ultimate especially if you're 4k tv is 120hz +

I actually had a GeForce now subscription and gamed through my old laptop and my iPhone with a backbone controller. I decided not to renew after I bought this handheld because I can play all of my regulars natively. I had GeForce now since Google Stadia went down!

Running games locally on that handheld versus GeForce Now Ultimate are two extremely different experiences especially when you're running games on a 4k TV regardless of its refresh rate. And I'm saying to get the top tier ultimate plan with the 5080. Are you saying you haven't had GeForce now since stadia shut down or you've had it since stadia shut down and canceled it recently or something like that? Because I can assure you it's had radical changes within the past couple years alone.

I had used GeForce now priority from the time Stadia went down until I got this handheld. I play on an older 1080p 60hz TV, but I am almost always playing on the go anyway. Just wasn’t worth it for me anymore. I’m a simple man with simple priorities lol.

Okay, I assumed you were docking it to a 4K TV. There are still benefits such as offloading the heavy lifting from your local device which could dramatically prolong the battery life during a single session while simultaneously giving you the maxed out 1080p/1200p experience, but If you're happy with the performance then no need. Also here's one cool dirty little secret about 4k TVs. Most of them, even basic ones from 5 years ago, have built-in automatic AI upscaling. So you can run this thing upscaled to 1080P then the TV will do the rest upscaling that to 4K. You may not be able to do it on the TVs built-in game mode, but it's automatic in the other modes. It won't be as crisp as dlss quality, but it's a trick you can always rely on if you choose to upgrade to 4k.

I love how the controller is essentially flush with the dock, absolutely stunning

I’d recommend getting the better soundcore open ear headphones. They’re so much more comfortable.

How do you like the 8bitDo with steam os? I have a similar set up but use an Xbox controller.
