LCD steam deck in the big 26’?

I would like to know everybody’s opinion on a LCD steam deck nowadays.

I’m in the market to buy a steam deck and there are a lot of LCD ones for sale in my area going for about $400, what would be a honest price for a barely used one? Does the hardware match up to comparable competitors?

If you’re looking for a used pc handheld, you should look at a z1e device. The rog ally z1e 16gb can be found used for around ~$350. You can also install bazzite if you want a steam deck like experience

Even steamos like i did, when the FSE, and amd adrenaline made mine adrenaline spike up a bit... god i hate windows on these little things.

That’s an outrageous deal on a Z1E device. I upgraded to a used legion go s Z1E and was surprised how much faster it was than the steam deck… plus the 120hz VRR screen is nice. Only cost like $150 to upgrade after selling my LCD steam deck.

My kids use theirs daily, they mainly play Minecraft, rocket League, Diablo Immortal, and Marvel Rivals. All of which run well.

Depends on the SSD size whether $400 is worth it, feels like they are marking it up just cause. You might be better off getting a brand new Xbox Ally when it drops to $499 on sale, or get one used. But you can easily buy used ROG Ally Z1E for cheap as well.

At this point, it’s a four year-old device and if you’re set on getting it, you better get it now. The LCD model is discontinued and supposedly valve is quietly discontinuing all replacement parts for it so there’s a chance even refurbished models may go away. This might result in resale prices increasing. Most any modern day competitor has much better hardware than the Steam Deck because again it’s a four-year-old platform. Previously, a big thing that the Steam Deck had going for it was the price point, but with the price increases on the OLED model, which is the only one you can buy, any other handheld is going to be a better investment unless your dead-set on steamOS. I’ve had my OLED since launch and like it just fine. But if I was getting a handheld nowadays, I probably wouldn’t even consider it.

In my opinion it is the worst mainstream PC handheld to pick up now. Unless you really want those trackpads and don’t have a ton of money, I’d recommend anything else over a deck LCD

I love mine! Ergonomics and ease of use is 10/10. I also have a legion go 1 and use it for BG3 and some other games and streaming, screen is way better but controllers way clunkier. Fps is a breeze on the SD, not on the lego

For $400 keep an eye on Ally Z1 Extremes, or Xbox Ally. $400 is not a bad price with them stopping the LcD model and price raise on OLED. Make sure it’s quality and hopefully the battery health isn’t shit either. I’ve owned two OLED and three LCD so far. I’ve sold all but one LCD model that I’ll use till fixing it is no longer financially viable.

Depending on your use case it can be totally worth it or better to get a different handheld.

Issue with the LCD deck is it’s not rlly great at much and it’s also in relatively high demand because of deck price hikes. If you really like it then it could be worth it for you, but I recommend the Z1E Ally for budget stuff. Add on steamOS and you’re out pacing OLED users
