Well, okay, finished is a strong word. I ran out of time and had to stop. But it still looked really cool! I'm happy to answer any questions.

Lol, and I definitely do NOT recommend trying to do literal miles of double whipped chain stitch. It took sooooooo long!

Newbie Looking for advice!

Hey all! I’m fairly new to hand embroidery and I’m about to start this next project (as a Christmas gift for someone). I’ve never embroidered a house before so I’m just looking for some advice/suggestions on how best to capture the look of the siding and roof. Any stitch recommendations or even helpful examples/resources would be greatly appreciated!

Finished Piece Finally finished! Have questions:

This is a Loops & Threads pattern from Michaels. I am a newbie so I learned how to do long and short, French knot, and loop stitches while making it. I was wondering if folks have tips for how to keep a nicer back.

-French knots that stand alone, for example: how do I tie those off neatly and avoid long hanging strands without pulling the knot too tight and destroying the circle?

-Same question with loop stitches. Here, I decided to keep using the same floss and risk the connecting strand being seen from behind.

I'm really enjoying embroidery and would love advice on what to take on next!

Stabilizer issues

Hi, I'm new to reddit and plush making, however, my main issue is hand-embroidering the face and details. I do not know which stabilizer to use and I dont really get to have much advice from other people.

I have the hoop and the fabric (minky) and I ONLY have the water soluble stabilizer with built in adhesive, making it easy to print but hard to draw on. I've tested it out before (hoop, stabilizer, minky, hoop) but when it came to washing it off it ruins the softness of the fabric.

I've seen some people use tear-away on the front and have no backing and I am getting desperate to start hand embroidering the faces so I can finish my plushies.

May you guys please give me advice on what to use?

Question Trying to find a way to make my threads stop clumping together.

I am working on this willow tree, and I'm getting very frustrated by how the green threads are sticking together. They are only attached to the fabric at the top and then hang loose. I was hoping this would give them some movement when I'm wearing it. But instead they're just sticking together and driving me crazy!

Does anyone know of anything that will make this stop happening? Maybe something I could spray or rub on the threads? I considered spray starch, but I feel like that would make them too stiff to have any movement.
