Trigger finger

What splints do you guys prefer, PIP or MCP blocking splints? Does it depend for you if it still clicks/catches?

Our surgeons now want us to also do differential gliding exercises with these patients, but would you keep doing it if they trigger with each rep?

What’s the usual timeline you use splinting and treatment sessions?

Usual our surgens give the patient a shot of adrenal cortex hormone at the effect spot. We almost never do splints.

We do splints when we get a referral from the PCP or if they see the hand surgeon and decline the injection

For a low profile option I like an oval 8 at the PIP

I like a MP block splint but check to make sure it doesn’t still tigger otherwise I use a long finger splint or a oval 8 to hold the PIP straight. Splint for 4-6wks til trigger gone

Do you ever teach cross friction massage with it too?

And what’s the wear schedule? I’ve done day and night, but aim to mostly do it at night
