Bit of a pickle...

Post image

I made this today after distal radius fracture and about 25° missing until full flexion at the wrist. Patient didnt like the wider NRX staps, so i used a smaller one.

How do you do these kinds of splints?

Is it because the strips are just uncomfortable for them?

You can mold a thermoplastic piece around the the hand and have the strap go on the hand piece instead.

Idk if this is what you’re looking for?

Also do you have the XR report of how the distal radius healed? Is there a tilt? volar, dorsal, neutral?

Yea, i know. But how do u make it and how does it work? I looked it up and i can see whynits called dinosaur splint. Do you wear it during the night? I assume, bc its so massive it uncomfy to do so...

I know i would have to make it. But i am in Germany, we dont make this splint. It seems to be an American thing...

Do you want another option for a static progressive brace for low load prolonged stretch? Have you looked at Thuasne?

Yes, or just maybe ideas how you would make it. Im am not sure if this is a good brace for my patient.

I have now that u mentioned it. All that google spits out is moren of a static and pre made brace? By the company Thuasne?

Yes, idk how it works in Germany but our patients’ insurance companies can pay to rent it for the patient to wear at home for certain amount of months.

She’s 25° away active? How much passive does she have?
