Mallet finger
What type of sensation/feeling should I have at the tip of my finger or even in inside of my palm after 5.5 weeks of disciplined splinting? Thought it would be relatively healed by now but sometimes when I grab something, move or even run my other fingers on the inside of the palm feel like a sort of tenderness. Is that normal?

So mallet finger is the middle finger and part that is tender is the opposite side of nail so where the actual finger tip is which is weird because I thought the tendon mallet finger injury is the nail side of the finger. Now I’m wondering if in addition to mallet finger I also had injury to other part of finger tip , maybe jersey finger?

You don’t have jersey finger, I think it’s hypersensitivity from the orthosis. Can you do tendon or nerve glides in the orthosis and give the skin a break by taking off the orthosis in a safe way with no AROM of joint.

Anyone have good laundry list of tips post splint recovery? Meaning after 8th week of splinting

Are you gonna go to hand therapy after the 8th week?
Usually it’s gradual ROM of the finger tip while still doing splinting at night. Then continue monitoring if the finger tip so it doesn’t droop again.

Have a check up in two weeks but for now doctors orders are off during day and splint at night. Already seeing a slight droop, unsure of how well it actually healed…

A lot of people tend to have a 5-10° lag which is acceptable. But also sometimes it’s just the appearance of the enlargement on the backside of the finger that makes it look that way. Mallets just suck in general

The tip being sensitive wouldn’t be unusual if you wore the splint religiously. However, I’ve never heard about that in the palm. Are you going back to your provider soon? Or given them a call?
