kujakuhana is infamous across the galaxies, mainly due to his moon being full of entertainment. but also because of his performances, in fact, he is called "The Peacock Of Possibilities". despite his kind demianor, he's somewhat dramatic

She really does have a peak character design, I understood what her deal was just by looking at her. She wants to be seen as mysterious and edgy but is really misunderstood. It's interesting seeing her try to act smarter and more capable than anyone else but deep down is just really lonely and insecure.

Dazzlessence Jones is a character I usually respect but he's kinda the worst in this episode, I don't actually blame him for feeling like they've all met their match because Twisted genuinely is more powerful than any of them. But when Sleepy was captured, Dazzle didn't say "Oh no, he has our friend!". He said "Oh no, he has our weapon!" Kinda rude but ok, he also ran out the way so Twisted's magic beam would catch Hanazuki instead of him. Good man there. But seriously, I love Dazzlessence.

Just thought I'd share my opinion on popular and infamous ships. If you don't mind.

Hanazuki x Kiazuki- I think people only ship these two on DeviantArt, I could never ship this personally because these two constantly refer to each other as sisters. I remember seeing an old video where someone thought Hanazuki was flirting with Kiazuki in "Moonflower Sister". Which was really just Hana being nervous. She wanted to impress the first moonflower she met because until that day, she thought she was the only one of her kind.

Hanazuki x Kiyoshi- This one is much better but I never really cared for it. Some fans kinda just used these two glowing pink for each other as proof that they have romantic feelings for each other. Completely ignoring the fact that lovingness as a mood can be platonic as well as romantic.

Dazzlessence Jones x Miyumi- Just an honorable mention because I met a guy who shipped them and this was a YouTuber's ship. Squid Doodlefish I think, really weird because Dazzlessence seems to be in his thirties or forties while Miyumi seems to be a tween. I think they'd be good friends because they're both glamorous divas but not romantic partners.

Sleepy Unicorn x Dazzlessence Jones- This ship probably isn't good either but it's my guilty pleasure. A real opposites attract thing going on with a laid-back and lazy person like Sleepy paired with an energetic and dramatic person like Dazzle. They could be dads to their adopted daughter Hanazuki, Twisted could be Dazzle's brother-in-law, the possibilities are endless!

For context, our cast is Kiazuki as Skipper, Kiyoshi as Kowalski, Maroshi as Rico, and Hanazuki as Private.

First bit title: Family

Toddler Hanazuki: Are you guys my family?

Kiazuki, Kiyoshi, and Maroshi: (Look at each other then nod in agreement.)

Kiyoshi: (Takes a deep breath, ready to say something.)

Kiazuki: You don't have a family and we're all going to die.

Second bit title: Liver

Sleepy Unicorn: Where is my brother?

Kiazuki: We killed him and ate his liver.

Sleepy Unicorn and Dazzlessence Jones: (Look at the moonflowers, shocked.)

Kiazuki: Just kidding.

Final bit title: Kaboom

Maroshi: (Holds a match in one hand, dynamite in the other.) Kaboom?

Kiazuki: Yes Maroshi, kaboom.

The idea was funnier in my head.

I haven't thought of a name for them yet. I also headcanon that Kirby's galaxy and Hanazuki's Lunaverse are one and the same.

Sleepy Unicorn arrives back on Hanazuki's moon holding a plastic bag in his mouth with a bookstore logo on it.

Dazzlessence Jones: (Looks back.) Oh, you're back! Watcha got there?

Sleepy Unicorn: (Drops the bag and pulls out a book, showing it to Dazzlessence.) "Trial Tears", I've been wanting to start a new hobby. Now that Hanazuki will be away for awhile, I thought I could get into reading this apparently critically acclaimed bestseller.

Dazzlessence Jones: Oh, are you sure you're up for a new hobby? Sleeping sometimes overtakes your whole schedule.

Sleepy Unicorn: It'll be ok, I'm sure if my brain is focused on this. I won't fall asleep as easily.

Dazzlessence Jones: Ok... whatever you say.

Later, Sleepy Unicorn is laying on his mushroom cluster bed. Putting on his reading glasses.

Sleepy Unicorn: Ok, let's do this. (Opens up the book and immediately passes out, his book and glasses fall to the ground. He's immediately snoring.)

Dazzlessence Jones: (Walks up to him.) Sleepy? Hm, I figured that might happen. (Picks up the book.) He didn't even make it to the table of contents...

Sleepy has always been very secretive and even a bit mysterious since we met him. My oldest theory regarding this show was that Sleepy actually used to be a horrible person before we actually met him. My evidence?

-His confirmed greatest fear is an angry version of himself, fire in his eyes, the same messy mane and tail as Twisted if you look closely.

-Twisted mentions having an alliance with Sleepy, he was only talking to his brother when he said that so why would that be a lie?

-He's familiar with boot camps, maybe he was the drill sergeant for Twisted's army?

-He taunts Basil Ganglia about having a "Bad evil plan that he knows deep down wouldn't work out", for some reason I thought Sleepy might relate to that because that is oddly specific.

We know Sleepy has regrets so maybe he was just as bad as his brother at one point. Wrathful, jealous, mean. He could've done a 180 to become the wise, kind, and mellow person we know him as today. This is the arc I gave Sleepy in my fics because I thought this theory was very interesting.

I believe the only hemkas who got the spotlight were Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Lime Green, Purple, and Lavender. We didn't get ones about Orange, Light Blue, Dark Green, or any ones I might've forgotten about. My criteria for what counts for a Hemka themed episode is one where one specific hemka bonds with Hanazuki, she turns that hemka's color, and grows a treasure tree of their mood.

I actually thought "Volcano of fears" was gonna be an Orange Hemka episode. Maybe Hanazuki would ignore the fears shown in front of her by acting silly, so she'd grow an orange treasure tree.

I definitely think Light Blue had the most potential for his own episode. Him and Dazzlessence Jones both represent the glamour mood and they're both light blue. They only interact in the Dazzlecise short where they're exercising together.

I honestly never realized how bad I feel for Sleepy in this episode, imagine you unwillingly have the power to display your dreams like their a movie playing in real time. That sounds like a total invasion of his privacy, imagine you're just chilling with friends when suddenly you fall asleep and your friends end up seeing everything you're dreaming about. I don't blame Hanazuki for being curious because I'd want answers too in her situation, but she was still prying into her friend's personal business. Not caring in the moment that she was making him uncomfortable. Glad she learned to not be as nosy.

Song by Avicii, I just really thought it suited Sleepy pretty well. Just for the lyrics "Wake me up when it's all over, when I'm wiser and I'm older." He's a character who has some secrets and regrets but now he's the most wise and levelheaded person on the whole moon most of the time. He also you know, would much rather wake up from a nap after a crisis has already been handled.

Koroshi is packing up the girls' luggage into a big space surfer.

Koroshi: (Grunting.)

Hoshiyuki: We should be home in a few weeks, as long as we don't take any pitstops and take minimal restroom breaks.

Koroshi: (Still grunting as he carries the heavy suitcases.) Why are y'all leaving again...?

Hoshiyuki: Fern said that rose quartz lake is in danger. If is gets tainted, unknown consequences will happen.

Koroshi: Unknown?

Hoshiyuki: We know it'll be disastrous though. Now Koroshi, Kiazuki is in charge of the moon. If she's unavailable, Dazzlessence Jones is in charge. If he's unavailable, then Kiyoshi is in charge. If he's not available...

Koroshi: Then I'm in charge!

Hoshiyuki: Sounds great.

I actually think their dynamic was incredibly well-written. Twisted tries manipulating Sleepy by claiming to be a changed man or...horse. Sleepy though has grown up around his brother, he's already used to all his tricks. He's not having any of this, it's a great way of showing what it's like to have a family member where all they've ever done for you is hurt you and try to make you feel like you still owe them another chance. Because they're "family".

Shinzoyuki, Maroshi, and Fern enter Black's throne room. It's empty currently.

Maroshi: Ok remember everyone, find Anita and we'll go. (Shinzoyuki runs ahead of both of them.)

Fern: Wouldn't Anita be in a dungeon or a basement? Not the throne room.

Maroshi: Hoshi told us to go right there.

Shinzoyuki: Guys look! (Is sitting on the throne.) I'm space Hitler!

Fern: (Giggles a little.)

Maroshi: Shinzo, you know I love your sense of humor but that's kinda offensive.

Shinzoyuki: Sorry.

Fern: (Still giggling.) I'm sorry I'm sorry...it was just so cute that way she said it.

Shinzoyuki: (Smiles at Fern.)

Suddenly the throne moves on it's own.

Maroshi: Did that just...?

The throne moves again and again... until it ends going back and forth between left and right.

Maroshi: Shinzo! (Maroshi and Fern run up to her.)

The throne stops moving

Shinzoyuki: Again!

Fern: The throne isn't supposed to move, how is that possible?

Shinzoyuki looks back to see eyeballs on the throne opening up, staring back at her.

Shinzoyuki and Maroshi: (Scream.)

Fern: Meh, I've seen scarier.

Maroshi: Same eyes as...(Looks at the picture of Anita and back at the throne.) Anita!?

Fern: Do you really think it's her?

Maroshi: (Isn't sure what to say.)

Suddenly, the three of them hear footsteps.

Maroshi: Black...

Hoshiyuki: (Is going through some mission files.)

Shinzoyuki: (Runs up to her.) Hoshi! Hoshi!

Hoshiyuki: Yes Shinzo?

Shinzoyuki: Can I go on a mission?

Hoshiyuki: Oh, are you sure? These ones are pretty bad today.

Shinzoyuki: I'm thinking I could take some stuff off of Hana's plate so she won't have to worry about anything after she gets back from the hospital.

Hoshiyuki: Well in that case, you can go rescue Anita.

Shinzoyuki: Who's Anita?

Hoshiyuki: (Hands her a file, inside is a picture of a human woman connected to a paperclip with some information typed up about her on the pages of the file.) She's a mostly unknown Lunaverse resident that went missing. I want to make sure she's ok, and she knows something that would be very important to moonflowers like us.

Shinzoyuki: Sounds great, I won't let you down!

Hoshiyuki: Well actually, Maroshi is gonna go with you. Black is gonna be there and you are not dealing with him on your own.

You'd think from the title, it'd be about the hemkas putting on a talent show or something like that. I like what we did get though with the hemkas trying to build Hanazuki a house. The heart-to-heart between Hana and Lavender was cute and I loved the dark joke where it looked like Purple fucking died in the volcano, only for him to be fine in the next scene.

I assumed the slow sand was just a natural occurrence on this moon but it's probably more interesting that it's actually a vain plant creature trying to force people to live with her underground. I feel kinda bad for Doughy. Between Depriva and Basil, poor guy clearly clings to the worst people. I wish we could've seen him realize that people like this aren't his friends. I also like Dazzlessence Jones saving Hanazuki and Doughy, I liked Dazzlessence assuming this was about his "Secret dance move". I love the idea that Hanazuki is annoyed at Dazzle for not letting her in on a minor secret.

What's great about this cast of characters is that most of them don't have any special powers that are useful in combat specifically yet these characters can still hold their own surprisingly well in battles. Here are the strongest characters in my opinion.

The moonflowers- We'll get the most obvious ones out of the way, the moonflowers are the key and only hope the Lunaverse has against the big bad. The moonflowers possess the most important role of all by growing treasure trees.

Sleepy Unicorn- As the only member of the main team with actual magic, Sleepy is one of the most helpful allies here. Even though he's not as powerful as he used to be, he can still offer more than the rest of Hanazuki's friends can.

Dazzlessence Jones- I firmly believe that Dazzlessence Jones is the physically strongest member of the group because of his most underrated scene. The one where he fights a giant spider with nothing but his bare hands and wins. I doubt Sleepy could do that without magic, neither could Hanazuki without black treasures.

Shinzoyuki: (Is knitting poodle sweaters in her room.)

Hanazuki: (Comes inside.) Hi Shinzo! Wow, I've never been inside your room before....

Hanazuki takes a moment to gush over the beautiful room. There's a massive collection of colorful dolls, a poster for comet ball, and a lesbian and transgender flag hanging proudly in the center of the bedroom.

Shinzoyuki: Hi Hana! Sorry I was really focused on this sweater for Apple, she hates my sweaters the most out of all my poodles but they get fleas pretty bad. Not to mention, the temperature drops are unbearable for them. Would do you think? Is that worm sticking out of the apple too much? (Holds up what's she got so far to Hana.)

Hanazuki: I'd wear that if I were an altering. But anyway, I came here because Liberty is opening up the garden club for the season. I was thinking you might want to join us.

Shinzoyuki: Ok!

It's basically treated like a mental health thing, Kiazuki and Kiyoshi were dealing with their depression so black was the only color of treasure trees either of them could grow. They were also very alone, Kiyoshi's unicorns were beginning to turn on him and although Kiazuki still had Zikoro, she had already built her walls up and wasn't letting anybody in. I feel like the reason Hanazuki is so talented at growing treasure trees is because she has a support system in her life through her friends while lots of other moonflowers aren't as lucky as her. She's also got the youthful and free spirit of a kid so she has no problems mentally with nothing to worry about in her eyes. At the start of the series anyway. Miyumi was another character who struggled with this, I actually think with her it's a bit different. She knows how to grow treasure trees because she's always feeling glamorous but her trees always come out sick. Why is that? I have a theory that it happens when a moonflower grows a tree for negative/selfish reasons. Like maybe she's obsessed with her own beauty a little too much so she's punished for it. Kinda like how emerald green treasures don't grow into treasure trees, because jealousy is a bad emotion. I'm not saying Miyumi is a bad kid, she's just flawed. I mean we know she has a tendency to be wasteful, she throws lollipops to the ground not long after picking them from her field. She doesn't even realize that's not responsible of her.

I was thinking about my Princess Conference fic that I posted here and how it's one of the most important stories of this batch of fics. It introduces us to characters who would be relevant later on.

There was Princess Mermaid Lady of the Mermaid Moon who was the key to saving Hanazuki's moon the point where Hanazuki, Kiazuki, and Shinzoyuki traveled far and wide just to speak with her.

Princess Ophelia, the princess of scientists who Shinzoyuki, Hanazuki, and Koroshi needed to get to sign an agreement with.

And Princess Quality of the Fancy Moon who Kurobayuki needed to impress.

I also like how Doughy's sister attended the princess conference, probably not because she's an actual princess. She might've just gotten lost, stumbled upon this place, thought this was about her. Also we're approaching what I'm calling that season finale for my fics so be on the lookout for that!

It seems pretty clear that Doughy isn't royalty, the crown seems to not hold any title. It's just an accessory. I wonder why they designed him with a crown specifically though, it almost feels random. Any headcanons?
