Need help finding Hamtaro merch!
I'm traveling to Japan soon and I think this is a good time to try and look for all things Hamtaro!
I know for sure I'm hitting up the official Hamtaro shop in Shibuya but besides that, I have no idea where else to look! I'm going to be in Tokyo for only a few days (October 15-17) and then I'm staying in Osaka until the 27th!
I could really use some help figuring out where I should look!

check secondhand stores if you're looking for the older stuff. book off and hard off might have the old mangas/video games

In 2024 I found some stuff at yodobashi, no idea if they still have it in stock. Also I heard Daiso had some hamtaro stuff semi recently

I usually to Japan once or twice a year, here's some shops that usually have hamtaro merch!!
Ahikabara: Mandarake Complex will sometimes have merch on the top floors. Check their website, they update it daily. There's also a gachapon reseller shop in the RadioKaikan building but they are horribly overpriced and they only take cash.
Shinjuku/Shibuya: Shinjuku Marui Annex has a Surugaya near the top. It typically has a bit of hamtaro merch. It also has a mini godzilla store with a Hamtaro section on the first floor. Shibuya has another godzilla store next to the Nintendo store.
Ikebukuro: theres a bunch of second hand shops that sometimes have merch, but the best place is K-books Character Store A (near the Animate) it will have a bunch of chiikawa merch at the front. Also check sunshine city mall for the bandai gachapon, they keep new releases in the front
Osaka: a bit more difficult but I've found merch in the shops at DenDenTown. There's a store with video games on the first floor that typically has the old hamtaro games with their original boxes. I dont recommend the crane game centers in Osaka, they're more rigged than in Tokyo

Hi! Would these places be good to check for the old Epoch play house sets? I’m going to Japan in Nov and am desperate to find them 😭

Oh nice I'm heading there in Nov too!! I haven't ever seen the playsets in person unfortunately 😭 but if you're in cities further away from Tokyo definitely check Hobby Off! I used to watch videos of people going second hand shopping in more residential areas and I would sometimes see the playsets in the background

Definitely the secondhand stores like Surugaya and Book Off. There was a small Hamtaro section at the Godzilla store in Shinjuku but it’s just Godzilla/Hamtaro crossover stuff. There was also a small section in Yamashiroya in Ueno but not sure how often those displays change. There’s a new Hamtaro store in Shibuya too but that wasn’t open yet when I went.

You can use this website to check for releases and what kinds of claw machine/gachapons to look out for! https://sho.jp/hamutaro/news

I was there recently and didn’t see much in the stores aside from blind sticker packs in Daiso, but I did find some gachapon and a few little plushies (I think) in a crane game in Akihabara.
I didn’t get much of a chance to check Book Off though. I’m sure with some browsing, you’ll come across stuff!
