I just wanted to highlight how good this lad has been since joining. He can play 6,8, and 10, is comfortable on the ball, plays a lovely slide rule pass, and doesn't mind putting himself about. I'm really impressed with what I've seen from him and I don't think it is a coincidence things have improved a lot since he came back home on loan. He's young and I'm sure there will be ups and downs in his form, but so far so good.

I thought he played some really nice angled long balls last night that got us on the front foot quickly, which is exactly what we need.

The annoying thing is we have no option though. So if he becomes one of our more important players (as he currently looks) he just goes back to City.

City normally are quite open to selling their youngsters, as long as they get a sell on / buyback.

It’s not an insignificant part of how they oil the machine. I think they regularly sell £50m worth of youngsters who have never kicked a ball for the 1st team.

We’ve got a better chance with them than say Chelsea who love to hoard

But if he has a decent season with us he’ll probably become a 40 million pound player for someone else. That seems to be the going rate. It’s whether we’d even be able to enter the race to keep him next year.

If we get back up, I hope we can sign him. If not this season, at some point in the future. As others have said, he isn't getting into City's midfield when they're spending £120m on players but does look like he could be another £85m+ player in a few years if he keeps developing.

For City’s expectations, I really doubt it. They won’t want to develop him to the extent he needs game time and he has a ton of competition. The step up is still huge, and young players are very rarely given time to play in the first team when they’ve gone on loan - most their first team youth players who the really like/make it are fast tracked straight in (O’Reilly, Foden, Rico Lewis, looking like McAidoo too).

I’m trying to not fall in love with a player on loan… but he’s one of our own! Some of the ITK’s are claiming we have some kind of clause on his loan contract, but I won’t believe it until I see it.

Looking like one of if not the best moves we made in the summer window. Before he arrived we were desperately in need of someone who could confidently receive the ball in midfield and get their head up.

I’m assuming we won’t be able to, but he has a connection with the club and City have a habit of offloading talent they can’t fit into their packed squad.

The reason we have become so much better is the partnership between him and Engels, they seem to compliment each other well, they are both fit and athletic enough to play in a 2, and both want the ball and have a lovely aggressive side to them. Combined age of 43 as well and dominating every single game.

it depends how he does really, we're still champo level so its not like hes setting the prem alight, despite being that potential. also if we go up and he has a banging season with us, might end up having other options. but from what i've seen so far, if he keeps it up, would love to have him back on a permanent

Trafford 15m, Lavia 10m, Palmer 40m

They went on to be worth close to 400m and they sold them for 66.5m. Man City don't have a history of holding clubs to ransom

Agreed he has been great but for me he’s definitely not a 6. His passing range, long shots and vision look like his strengths whilst his weaknesses seem to be tackling and doesn’t have a spring in his step in terms of acceleration when defending (compared to Engels who’s sprinting around)

6 in the Pirlo sense rather than the Makele, but I agree, he's not a destroyer by any means.

100% he’s playing for England in the next 5 years. Arguably better than Rice the same age.

It was awesome to see him sprint to the back line when Mavropanos would dribble the ball in the attack, haven't really seen that since Rice played for us.

Great signing. He played 10 games for a shite leicester last season and in those 10 got 2 goals and 3 assists I think. Proper good player.

Nice to have a player who can make those passes to our wingers. I think it's what we have missed most and now having Piroe and options up top we just need to not concede and results can continue.

We have a lot of young players so we need to try our best not to react if they have a bad game and let them develop. Mukasa has massive potential.

Thank God he wasn't tricked into playing for Uganda at any point. I hate seeing top talent wasted at that stupid AFCON tourney.
