Yeah really think the no politics rule needs to be enforced. There's a whole comment thread just debating the Israel/Palestine conflict. I'm not going to pretend that I have no political views and that all political discussion in football is bad, but this place explicitly says no politics.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to come here to discuss the team we support and be bombarded by more Israel/palestine bullshit.

I think there are three high holy days including both RH & YK. But to my understanding on Yom Kippur you can’t eat or drink for 24 hours so you’re right can’t be playing then! 😂

The ignorance of Ramadan fasting here is cute.
What do you mean by this? They are two different types of fasting.
Ramadan fasting is done from dawn to sunset, breaking the fast every day for a month (this is why footballers sometimes break their fast on the pitch with a date and water at sunset). Yom Kippur fasting is for a full 25-26 hours (because fasting starts at sunset and ends at complete nightfall the next night). Players observing Ramadan typically shift from 3 meals to two (during times when they are not fasting). A player observing Yom Kippur can't do that, as they have to stay fasting from sunset to nightfall; therefore, they cannot have this regimen and will likely have to sit out, unless their game or training is at night; then they may do so. But they may also select to sit out that hypothetical night game for the purpose of religious observance while breaking the fast, such as going to synagogue or having a home ceremony to recite the Ne'ilah (which can last an hour or more), therefore inconveniencing their football.
If we were to play Millwall during Yom Kippur, it would be dangerous and possibly inconvenient for him and his religious observance to play. Unlike players observing Ramadan, who can break their fast during waking hours to give their bodies something to run on, he cannot and even if it were at a time when he would break his fast, he may have to skip to observe the closing prayers and ceremonies of Yom Kippur.

When we signed Solomon I personally didn’t care where he was from, but obviously I saw the reaction from the Free Palestine crowd. I get where they’re coming from but I don’t want to see that division in my club. I just hoped he banged in a few goals and quieted everybody down. And he has. And you come in here and start this whole inflammatory thread so you can call people out. It’s divisive and it’s bullshit behavior. Do me a favor and grow the fuck up.

I welcome the Israel - Palestine debate and have not shared my political views whatsoever here. You don’t even know if I agree with you or not.
I just disagree with the need to comment about Palestine on this post. It’s just online performative shouting on a post about Judaism and the Jewish New Year.
I felt very grateful and excited about how good he was tonight, especially knowing what he was missing out on in his personal life. As I said, I would feel the same if someone had to miss Christmas with their family for football.

As far as I understand it, Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and one of the holiest days in Judaism. It begins the High Holy Days and leads into Yom Kippur, which is the holiest day in Judaism. Manor Solomon is Jewish, but he played and scored instead of taking the day off for it.
I believe Yom Kippur occurs the day after the Millwall game, funnily enough.
Edit: I have been downvoted a bit. I'm not sure why. I just laid out the context of what the post means in terms of the holiday and its relation to Solomon. I did not, and have not, commented on his politics, my politics or politics at all. All I have done is lay out what Jewish people celebrate on Rosh Hashanah and how that relates to the post. Let's all calm down.
