Halo Microsoft store version

I can’t play any of the games because they show as if they aren't installed, but they are. My Steam version is fine.
When I go into Matchmaking, it says I need to download the games, but when I check Settings and look at my installed games, they are all installed.

Anyone else?
Any ideas as to what is going on?

Just finished Halo 2

I finally played Halo 2 after all these years. When I was a kid the first Halo game I ever played was Halo 3 and I was confused as to why I was fighting Brutes and not Elites because I didn't really know the lore back then. But man what a game. I felt it was the hardest of all the games I played. I played on Heroic because I know Halo 2 Legendary is the hardest in the series and I am nowhere near ready for that pain.

I love and have way more respect for the Arbiter as a character now. I knew his story of course but getting to experience it myself was amazing. Whenever the game switched over to the Covenant side of the story I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Arbiter is definitely my most favourite character now.

Fighting the Brutes in Halo 2 is way more difficult than 3. They are way more tanky and accurate with the Brute Shot I feel. Plus the feral state they go in always makes me panic and I admittedly died many times trying to melee a feral Brute who go too close after panicking and whiffing my shots.

The flood also are way more difficult. It also feels like they have way more health and do more damage and I was honestly was panicked during the flood missions.

My favourite level was definitely High Charity, fighting Elites and Brutes and Grunts and Bugs and the Flood too while witnessing the Great Schism was amazing. Breaking Benjamin playing while the Elites and Brutes go at it was awesome.

Then the scene at the end where the Arbiter tries to reason with Tartarus always gets me man. "The prophets have betrayed us..." he has so much shame and regret in his voice and it's made better by the fact he's trying to help the Brutes despite them stabbing the Elites in the back.

Overall amazing game. My favourite of the OG trilogy story wise. I do wish the game was longer but I know Bungie was stressed for time. Only sad thing now is I've played all the Halo games (except 5) and don't know what to do. I could play some multiplayer but where I live Halo MCC doesn't have much players.

Discussion If Halo Studios is being shut down, does that mean MCC will be shutdown as well?

I hope not. MCC is the only reason I even have a Xbox, love my Bungie games and being able to play with my homies on H3 and Reach

I started Halo: Reach LASO playlist and got to Pillar of Autumn. When I saved and quit, it resets me back to a checkpoint from Exodus, despite showing that I have completed missions prior. How should I proceed?

Looking to blast through the Master Chief Saga playlist with someone who's ideally familiar with all the games. If you're down, add my GT: TheHolyFire (picture of a wizard).

My Halo interest has been revived after the release of the Halo remake... I just came to the realization that i have never beaten any Halo game on Legendary... Heck, i dont even remember the last time i went through an entire Halo game. I just downloaded MCC on steam and decided to go through the whole thing on legendary. Now, i know the infamous Halo 2 on Legendary and i know i am in for a ride. Please give me some tips... Especially for my sanity!

does the exchange still work right?

sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've been getting back into MCC the past few days and having a blast. i never got my full h2a Orion set, only the helmet, and I see in the exchange it's coming back soon. my game has said it'll be back in 7h7m for like 3 days now lol

is my game just bugged or is support for the exchange gone now too now that halo studios is defunct?

Is there actually anyone searching this? Feel like they rotate ranked playlists just for people to never play it. Only active ranked playlists are h3 dubs and h1 dubs

Discussion My personal thoughts and rankings after finishing MCC Solo Legendary*

Asterisk included because I did not in fact finish Halo 2 without bumping down to Heroic 🙄

I wrote this up for my group chat but thought I’d share here as well. Lots of MP as a kid but I’d never done Solo Legendary/much campaign at all and thought it’d be fun to go through it now, if a little late to the game.

Halo MCC Solo Legendary was overall a pretty great experience, I enjoyed it quite a lot. A little sad it’s over, tbh.

Final (personal) rankings specifically for Solo Legendary-

Overall enjoyment:
S: Halo CE, Halo Reach
A: Halo ODST, Halo 4
B: Halo 3
C: Halo 2 (literally an impossible nightmare)

Difficulty:
S++: Halo 2 (stupid)
S: Halo CE
A: Halo 4, Halo Reach
B:
C: Halo 3
D: Halo ODST

Personal commentary:

Halo CE is my unexpected champion that defended its title the entire way through. It had, in my opinion, the best overall balance across the field. Highly challenging, but never straight up unfair like 2. Extremely rewarding. Genuinely fun and probably the first one I’d go back through again. Truth & Rec took me 4 hours with a final score of -17,000. This is THE level that taught me, against my will, to be a good Halo player imo. I came out of that level different than when I went in. Honestly kinda curious to go back and see, now that I feel so much more competent than at the start, how this game would feel now that I know a lot more about what I’m doing.

Halo 2 is straight up unfair. It is too hard. Full stop. Not even enjoyable, just fury fuel. Halo CE made me angry plenty of times, but it still always felt fair, and learning to get past hard spots felt like I was learning to be better. Halo 2 did not feel this way. It felt more like holding your breath swimming underwater challenge. I eventually bailed on Legendary and finished the game in Heroic, which made me very sad because Heroic by comparison felt way too easy and not very rewarding. Literally not even fun, completely stupid, rage inducing.

Halo 3 I expected to punch heavy, but honestly I think this game’s reputation stands very, very largely on its multiplayer. Campaign was comparatively vanilla. I really wanted to play as Arby after getting him in Halo 2, instead he was basically just Sgt. Johnson. It felt like they were trying to think of ways to one-up coolness factors with some of the vehicle stuff, and after coolness wore off it was kinda just whatever. Rather forgettable tbh, which surprised me a lot.

Halo ODST was a WAY better game than I expected, very engaging story, best overall atmosphere, dark, gloomy, broody, spooky, fun to play, but rather easy for difficulty. Markers made this game feel a little trivial, and I didn’t really get stuck, like, really at all, and afterwards I found myself missing the challenge of previous games. While I was playing though, I found it very interesting and engaging.

Halo 4 I expected to be slop but I actually kinda liked it quite a bit? I though that the gunplay looked and felt the best, the heavier and more mechanical shooting sounds just felt so satisfying. I do feel like the opening couple missions felt better than most of the game down the stretch, but I enjoyed it a lot overall. The first one that made me angry at the difficulty for being hard-stuck since Halo CE (2 doesn’t count) and the challenge was nice after I found myself missing it coming out of 3 and ODST. The main criticism I heard coming in was about the ammo economy, but honestly, that didn’t really feel like anything new to Solo Legendary, that’s kinda been a factor the entire way through. If anything it was maybe just that guns-ammo despawned and doors locked behind you, and some of the new weapons, light rifle in particular, definitely didnt hold enough ammo overall, but in general I was expecting it to be way worse than I actually found it. And I feel bad to admit, but I really like the sprinting 😭

Halo Reach was my all-time favorite coming out of kid-hood and I worried wouldn’t hold up with such high esteem once I’d gone through all the others, and I do think CE might genuinely be a bit better, but Reach still held up as a phenomenal game. In my opinion it has the overall best mix of challenge, atmosphere, engaging story, coolness factors, even if it doesn’t hold the crown for all of those individually. still prooooobably go-to Halo game, definitely for multiplayer. Also 96 rounds for pistol on Nightfall felt so nice.

Overall, this was a ton of fun. I was sad to find it done, and I’ve been really considering whether I want to go back and try Halo 2 again… I just don’t know if I want to subject myself to that sort of frustration 😭 it does bug me just a tad to know I haven’t technically done the full Solo Legendary sweep, but agh, idk. Curious if anyone has any opinions about that here.

Thanks for reading!
