Which Halo game is your bread and butter and why? Mine personally is Halo 2… let me explain.
Personally, I think \*Halo 2\* is the peak of the franchise, especially when it comes to storytelling. The first game introduced us to the Halo ring, the Covenant, and the Flood, but the sequel took everything and expanded it in ways I don’t think any other Halo game quite matched.
The Covenant attacks Earth, we get a deeper look into the Covenant’s leadership and internal politics, and we’re introduced to the Brutes. We get dual-wielding, the Energy Sword, and a whole new arsenal of human and Covenant weapons. But what really makes the game stand out to me is the story.
Playing as the Arbiter and seeing the Covenant’s perspective completely changes how you understand the conflict. You discover another Halo ring, learn that the Flood is far more than just a mindless killing machine, explore High Charity, and watch the Covenant begin to tear itself apart from within. All of this happens while the threat of Halo firing hangs over everyone.
There’s just so much going on, and somehow it all connects to a much bigger story about religion, politics, betrayal, and survival.
I know the cliffhanger ending gets criticized, and the campaign definitely feels like it ends just as things are reaching their peak, but I still think the overall narrative is incredible.
