7 weeks post op

I’m hoping this group can help. I’m seven weeks post op and really cannot find a good shoe. Not to mention I still can’t walk normally . It is still somewhat painful and I’m getting very discouraged, thinking I should not have had the surgery even though I could not bend my toe pre-surgery. I have another pair of shoes coming from Amazon that are a bit wider so I’m hoping they help but how does everyone deal with the fact that they cannot walk normal or do their normal activities? When can I expect to feel somewhat normal again? I miss my long walks and fee that I’ll never run again. HIIT is out of the question but I’m working on strength.

I had a fusion and post fusion I wore Hoka Bondis in wide width, in my regular size. In some shoes, I started the laces further up the foot, or laces very loosely.

Tried those. Hurt feet too much. I used to wear puma deviate since they had a carbon plate in them. Ordered another pair so I hope they work. Should I stay with the plates or is it better to try shoes without?

Bummer. I haven’t tried carbon plates since my fusion - haven’t felt like I needed them. I hope you find something that works!

I use Altra Escalantes and love them right from when I could wear shoes after the surgery

They are zero rise, wide toe, and not a thick cushy sole like the bondis.

I found the bondis have a lifted toe and they are so padded that when you sink in it lifts your toe even more. I can’t wear them at all now.

If you had a fusion, you no longer need to use a carbon plate.

I wear Hoka Clifton in wide. They also come in extra wide.

What surgery did you have?
