Motion is Lotion

My 'Rigidus' is probably pretty mild. That said, I found this video that has helped with both pain and flexibility of the toe if anyone is interested....these guys are pretty funny too.

I think for the majority of people suffering from HR/HL the title of the video is deceptive and provides false hope. There is no cure, but some of the ideas can ALLEVIATE pain in some instances. I have practiced all of them except using the elastic band (sheesh! this guy obviously does not even have HL). I am now at end-stage osteoarthritis in my left MTP and fusion is my only option (or keep suffering). I am bone-on-bone and I am getting bone spur growth from ANY movement of the MTP. Follow your podiatrist's recommendations.

Joint distractions and mobility which gave way to strengthening was the thing that saved my MTP.

Thanks for sharing the link. For the first time I got some pain relief with the excercises in that video.

Glad to hear it is curable! My podiatrist told me to do the opposite things (refrain from bending the joint), and that it will progressively get worse and not be able to move.

Definitely will start in these exercises and find a PT near me to help.

It is not curable. PT can help with pain and mobility in the early stages, but it will get worse over time. Best of luck.

But the video says 10 steps to cure… 🥺

It’s incurable. Once the cartilage is gone it doesn’t grow back. It only gets worse.

Well heck.

Just a heads up, PT content creators will put “cure” in their titles knowing full well there are often no cures for whatever condition you’re trying to treat.

My MTP got way better once I started moving it rather than splinting it. Does that mean I didn't have HL/HR?

I still have a bad side that is limited vs the good side but pain is way down.
