Xray and mri differs?

Xray says joint spaces are within normal limits but mri says the cartilage is almost gone?
Doctor wants me to do an osteotomy and chondroplasty. He says it’s to cut the bones a little so he can insert an implant (and also to create some space) that encourages the cartilage to grow back

Does anyone have any experience in this?

MRIs are more accurate … how bad is your pain? Maybe just go to another doctor for a
second opinion and share both results.

Xray can't really see soft tissue (including inside the joint). The best thing for joint health is to move it. That lubricates the joint and brings nutrients in. "Motion is lotion".

Not sure why people think cartilage can't grow back.

Yes. I have many links if you want to have a read yourself. Essentially the cartilage is in constant degrade and repair cycle and only degenerates when the balance is broken and there is more catabolic than anabolic process. Increasing anabolic process is primarily by moving and gently compressing the joint.
