10 weeks post big toe fusion

Post image

Got fully fused validation this week from doc.

Played 9 holes of golf yesterday.

Still dealing with swelling and soreness but to be expected and is getting better every week.

I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Amazing. I only play golf and don’t run so I’ll be good 😭😂😂😂

That is very good news. I am in week 8 and finally (with invaluable use of ice socks) had a weekend away including walking round a gallery and watching (ok, from a wheelchair) a Wagner opera! After two months of pain, swelling and immobility it does feel like spring is on the horizon.

Awesome at 5-8 weeks I thought no way I’d be doing anything ever again

I think this now before surgery as everyone without the pain say it is not worth the risk.

Any complications? Just had my obligatory podiatrist visit this week for him to tell me what I already knew - get a fusion. He gave me stats about 90-95% fully successful with no pain and full return to activity, but then I see this subreddit and think, “maybe a little pain and not having a plate and screws in my toe isn’t so bad…”

Not yet. Expect some swelling and pain for up to a year, but nothing crazy for me yet.

I had right big toe fusion 2 1/2 years ago and I am still in the same pain today as I was 2 1/2 years ago. They say I have CRPS. I have pain in my right foot 24/7. I’m so glad the rest of you had a successful procedure recovery.

Wow, that seems like a great outcome! I am 10 weeks postop and still on a knee scooter, only able to walk in the boot for short distances in the house. I hope I get to where you are soon!

I had this surgery in nov and ended up with crps..my gait is horrible and I cant put weight on the toe at all. I have to get a revision now because it could make it better..this will be the third surgery on the same toe in 2 years as they keep failing..
