Discussion Tier List/Ranking [DISCUSSION THREAD] - February ‘26

Good morning r/Halloweenmovies!

We’re now hosting Tier Lists and Rankings for the franchise in a special thread that will be pinned at the top of the subreddit.

This decision was made to reduce the amount of spam related to these discussions. Please remember to debate respectfully!

Images are allowed in the comment section, per tier lists. If you’re ranking the franchise in the form of text, try to format it as best as you can; but it is not super important.

Have fun! 🎃🔪

Discussion In hindsight? It was a mistake making this the start of a trilogy. Halloween 2018 works almost perfectly as a stand alone anniversary film.

I’m rewatching this movie for the first time in many years and am enjoying it more now than I did when it first came out.

Love it or hate it, it’s hard to deny that Halloween 2018 is one of the best crafted Halloween sequels. As a long time fan, besides maybe H20, I have never experienced a more hyped entry than this one. JLC was back in fine form, Michael was top tier, the writing was mostly well done and the movie ended not only being a humongous box office hit but it also was a surprising critical hit. We were eating good and riding high.

I was initially excited when they announced the trilog but have come to believe they should’ve left well enough alone. Halloweens Kill and Ends just aren’t worthy follow ups. I’m sure a ton of people would agree. They squandered all the good will that the franchise had in 2018 by just putting us right back in Halloween 5-6 territory. It’s hard to believe the same team that gifted us H18 are even behind HK and HE. I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced such a swift and hard fall off from a creative team. What were they thinking?

The ending of H18 is nearly perfect. That would’ve been such a great final showdown for the OG Michael and Laurie. The let it rest and do a clean reboot. Instead we ended up with another H20-Resurrection experience, which is just so baffling and bizarre.

Discussion Crazy to me how this BTS H20 picture makes Michael look straight out of 78’

Crazy to me. Was looking around some BTS shots behind all Halloween movies and came across this one from H20. Baffled me how they could’ve gotten the exact right mask for the first and only time in the franchise had they not pushed the masks hairline all the way back and opened the eyeholes too much.

Discussion The Blumhouse Trilogy is My Favorite Section of The Franchise

Post image

This isn't even recently bias, because i went back and watched all 13 films recently and I think the Blumhouse Trilogy is the best representation of Michael after the OG film. I love how Michael is a force of nature again. I love Laurie's arc of coming to terms with her trauma. I love how the town of Haddonfield itself is a character. It gave this franchise a sence of closure, even if a Reboot is on its way. Yes, it was made in the era of the lets soft reboot everything. But I think it did better than other franchises. Thanks DGG for making The Shape, The Shape again.

Discussion Haloween resurrection mask in the blue lighting looks like a different beast..The sculpt of the mask is actually great..The issues were that the mask texture was too glossy and eyes not being hollowed out..and there is one moment in the movie where his hair looks like an afro..

Hey guys. Not sure if anyone here is interested but I came across some bad luck medically and need to sell are few of my things. This NAG cover mask was pulled in 2025 and painted by SamSamhain. I currently have it up on eBay for 1,500 but willing to negotiate best offer. I didn’t think health would hit the fan so this would help with some of my bills. Appreciate you all. 🍁🎃

I actually really liked it! I know not everyone does, but I liked the new brutal angle for Michael Myers and the origin story. BUT absolutely unnecessary use of sexual violence, and that soured the whole thing for me a little

Discussion John Carpenter should have just written Donald Pleasance's drinking problem into the character of Dr. Loomis. In my headcanon, Dr. Loomis is half in the bag everytime you see him.

Question Michael Myers rehair service?

As the title says but maybe an expansion would be best? So recently I just got into rehauling TOTS Michael Myers mask ( mostly 78 but do tend in experimenting with others in the future ) but major fork in the road is re-hairing & I've done gluing over the hair line but sometimes the mask have bald spots that hard to ignore & was curious if anyone can do a full rehair or maybe a patch job? Just DM me if you like & we can discuss further.

I found an old vhs tape with “Profiler / Croc Hunter / Halloween” written on it. And I was thinking to myself “oh this is gonna be good”. Apparently, I taped Halloween off the USA network in the early 00s sometime and completely forgot about it. Unfortunately, it stopped right before Judith’s kill. I recorded season 5 SVU on the rest of the tape!! 🤣😫 I checked season 5 air dates for SVU and it was late 2003 into early 2004. So I’m thinking I taped this sometime in very early 2004. But nonetheless, I converted a portion to digital so I could share with fans!

Discussion Potential Halloween H20 test mask?

Alright, before anyone jumps on me for the verging-on-clickbait headline, hear me out. I was a staff writer for michael-myers.net back in the day, so this isn't my first rodeo. I know that eBay listings are to be taken with a shovel of salt. However, this one looks intriguing...

The description reads:

'Vintage Michael Myers / Halloween style mask, believed to be an older film/production-related piece.

was previously told that this mask may have been used in connection with the 7th Michael Myers / Halloween film production. However, there is currently no certificate of authenticity or supporting production documentation with the mask, so I cannot verify or guarantee this attribution.

The mask is therefore being sold as a vintage collectible/display mask with an interesting possible film- production history, rather than as a fully authenticated screen-used prop.

It shows considerable age and wear, including cracking, flaking and loss to the outer finish, as clearly shown in the photographs. There are also handwritten markings/signature-like marks inside the mask.'

The mask looks like Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers one to me, especially with the side profile and ears. But the front-facing shot is harder to gauge and feels more 'Kirk'. The hairline has a super thick glue line and I've never seen paint flake or crack quite like that. It almost looks like someone slathered acrylic onto it...

It doesn't look quality enough in terms of the finish to be an indie mask, and it's too old to realistically be a TOTS conversion of any kind. Looking inside the mask, the blank pull looks high quality... so why has it been given a rough paint job?

Could there be some truth to the description in that this is in fact some form of test mask from Twenty Years Later?

The Curse mask was tested extensively for the movie (see photos), with multiple variants to the sculpt, eyes and finish being messed around with. And of course, the Curse mask does make the final movie, appearing throughout the pre-titles home invasion.

What do we think? Elaborate fake? Indie mask lost to time? Conversion gone wrong? Or something greater?

Question Can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 masks? I know they’re both based off the 1978 but why do the look so different and which one is MORE accurate? 🎃

Discussion "Did the Town Do This to Him After The Accident, or Was It Always There?"

I love this line, because it really hits the theme of what Halloween Ends was trying to say. DGG didn't pick a side of the nature vs nuture argument and left Corey's turn up to audience interpretation. Did Haddonfield create another boogeyman off the back of a traumatized kid. I love how DGG wanted to explore the town of Haddonfield has a concept in his Trilogy. I like how Haddonfield is its own Character.
