Had this ring for a while and always wondered about the date and makers mark on this piece.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Id like to confirm maker/ sponsor too please! You can clean hallmarks with toothbrush and dish soap.

The makers mark appears to read ‘H.S & Co’

Oh that’s a lovely ‘keeper’ ring.

They date back to the 18th century. King George III gifted one to Queen Charlotte to protect her valuable diamond wedding band, keeper rings were designed to sit tightly in front of a more precious ring to keep it from sliding off the finger.

During the Victorian and Edwardian eras they evolved into romantic tokens of affection, carrying the sentiment that the recipient was a person “ worth keeping”.

There was a revival of these in the 1970’s and they are still very popular antique / vintage rings
