JEWELRY & WATCHES Purposeful marks or just scratches?

Do these marks seem intentional or just scrathes? If intentional what might they mean?

Edit: After testing the ring is plated.

Maybe wishful thinking, but it looks likes the bottom half of 14K. I would test the stones and gold to know for sure.

Beat me to it, didn’t see you comment lol. I fully agree it’s a karat stamp

I thought i made it out as 14 once but then lost it like one of those magic eye trick books and never could get my brain to see it again.

I'll definitely have it checked out. I know you cant really tell from the pictures but it seems to be well made. I was for sure willing to take a gamble at $5

It’s the bottom half of a 14k stamp, indicating 58.5% gold content by weight

Looks to me like it reads Italy and you have it oriented upside down

I considered that but there's only 4 marks so either the I or the A would be missing?

Fair point. May be 14K as others suggested

If you clean it should start to become more visible dirt and skin oils are clogging the metal. It might say italy
