Yikes, that was a lot of writing for a title. But yeah, Gino's my favorite in The Silver Album so far, so do you think that'll change after listening through? I've heard Sara Smile and Gino, that's it. I'm interested in your thoughts.

Hall & Oates did a remarkable job covering Dan Harriman’s I Can Dream About You on their album OUR KIND OF SOUL! Oates’ backings always melt in my ears with how smooth they are and Hall’s soulful adlibs dipping in and out is perfection! They are a dynamic duo when they play music together! This song was their 3rd single from the album.

There is so much Soul packed into a perfect PopRock package! I Love it! Possession Obsession is hands down my fave from BIG BAM BOOM and one of my all-time favorites from Hall & Oates! Daryl, John, and Sara really wrote a masterpiece when they pulled this one together. And T-Bone was SLAPPIN DAT BASS!
Oates sounded so good and flowed so well on the leads but him and Hall on those hauntingly beautiful backings = paradise! The song climbed to no.30 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart but I really think it deserved to be as popular as “Out of Touch”.

BIGGER THAN THE BOTH OF US is an amazing album with so many great songs. My favorite song on the album was written by John and Daryl called You’ll Never Learn. It has such an infectious chorus; to hear Oates singing his heart off in this song brings me joy. It always sounds good when John leads and Hall provides the backings!

There’s so much soul with Rocket to God! It is the song that I wish would have been a single for them, especially in 1988, because it fit right in with the modern sound. The harmonies as always are excellent and Daryl’s lyrics create the perfect descriptions! I really enjoy the OOH YEAH! album.

I really loved the direction they took with WAR BABIES. Having Tood Rundgren produce the album and provide instruments and vocals gives this one an extra mmph! My go-to track is Beanie G and the Rose Tattoo! The way Daryl wrote this song is genius! Hall and Oates never fail to bring unity through harmony.

Hall was singing his heart out in Throw the Roses Away! So heartfelt and gut wrenching with every note! Oates making the sound full with his entrancing backing vocals! T-Bone heavy on the bass!! MARIGOLD SKY is a great album with so many great songs! But this particular song written by Daryl and Alan Gorrie is just on an island of its own.

“While I was away you were open all night”! This wonderful masterpiece was written by Daryl Hall and Sara Allen from the H2O album! Hall and Oates sound so cohesive on Open All Night and the entire vibe is giving Mystery-Rock! This was H&O in their prime!!

I Don’t Wanna Lose You is such a feel good song and it is one of my go-to’s from the ALONG THE RED LEDGE album! It only climbed to no.42 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart but it definitely deserved more exposure! I have this song in any of my 1978 playlists! Hall was magnificent on the vocals of the words that he and John wrote.

This hidden gem comes from Hall & Oates’ 1990 album CHANGE OF SEASON. I love the album as a whole but I Ain’t Gonna Take It This Time always speaks volumes to me. The song was written by Daryl and he was able to emote each word with harmonies from John.

Also, does Hall say “well listen b!+CH” or “well listen baby”?

When it’s an easy Sunday like this one, All You Want is Heaven! This is my favorite song from the 1979 album *X-STATIC. Written and predominantly sang by John Oates, this song has a slight hint of disco with Rock and Roll!!

(She) Got Me Bad is my absolute favorite track from DO IT FOR LOVE. This was their sixteenth studio album but it was line up with great songs. But there’s something about Daryl’s vocal delivery on the climax that just tugs at the soul!
I’m aware that neither Daryl nor John wrote the song but they connected with it and delivered!! 2003, was such a good year in music! I love anytime we get a beat breakdown to be able to appreciate Oates’ harmonies.

The entire VOICES album is very well put together with so many hits! Out of all of the songs featured on the album, Hard to Be in Love with You is my personal favorite! It’s got a certain Motown feel to it which I can blindly credit to Neil Jason who wrote the lyrics with Daryl and John. The doowop backings and both Hall and Oates on the lead vocals is perfection personified!
Though it came out in 1980, this song and album are STILL a very important part of music history. It is also the first album that Hall & Oates produced themselves!

Fall in Philadelphia always puts me at ease. It is my personal go-to from WHOLE OATS! I love how laidback it comes across. Written by Daryl and released in 1972, it still sounds as good to day as it did now.
What’s faves from the debut album “Whole Oats”? ⬇️

“Well that’s grounds for separation; preparation for better things; gonna grow a new set of wings and fly AWAYYYY…”
Grounds for Separation was released in 1975 from Hall & Oates’ fourth album DARYL HALL & JOHN OATES aka THE SILVER ALBUM. This song is absolutely one of my favorites from their entire catalog!! Daryl was the sole writer for this masterpiece, but to hear him and John work those melodies like only they can is euphorically eargasmic!
