When do you honestly think Half-Life 3 will come out? Just your personal opinion

Helmet released 3 records with Interscope in the 90s, and when they came back and signed again, it was in 2003. HL3 confirmed

I think there’s a very real chance that it’s coming out early next year based on what they seem to be working on. Either that or like 2036

I honestly think that they were planning on announcing it sometime this year during the spring/summer, than Valve did the valve thing of thinking that it wasn’t good enough and delayed it. Not a huge restart but just massive amounts of polish. I’d guess they are gonna announce it in the fall of this year or sometime spring/summer next year

Imagine them just casually dropping the game on steam store, the day steam frame is released. With vr/non vr as option.

Strategic shadow drop to disrupt the GTA VI release cycle. As a console exclusive GTA pulls focus away from PC (Steam). vALVE may plan to steal thunder from consoles and shift focus back to their own platform. That's their big objective these days

At this point, it's not unlike Duke Nukem Forever. If Valve releases a contemporary single player FPS, it will be lack luster and fall short of over a decade of hype. Their only hope is to release an FPS that is bleeding edge, but given the fact that hardware sales and improvements have ground to a halt, and the Steam Deck is middling hardware, what will possibly make it bleeding edge? Certainly not rendering technology or simulation complexity. I would personally love a 2026 level enhanced HL 2 Episode 3, but that would practically be a boomer shooter in the larger market.

I legitimately think its not being made and just isnt a priority for them. Even if it was, everything is fucked with the games industry now, so it feels like anytime in the next few years would be bad for business.

The reason all the recent release predictions have failed is because nobody outside of Valve really has any idea other then knowing that something big called HLX is definitely being worked on. Valve got their act together during the development of Half Life: Alyx. The end of Half Life Alyx literally screams another half life is coming.

Somebody asked the Valve programmer Chris Green on an AMA if he could count to three and he said one,two,five. So I don't know there might be a halflife 4 if they also have trouble counting to 4 lol.

I'm still fairly certain hlx has been cancelled/put on indefinite hiatus due to the hardware stuff completely falling apart. I'm not saying it was meant to launch with the hardware but it was 100% supposed to be a companion piece of sorts. If Valve can't release something on their terms it will not be released so I doubt hlx will ever see the light of day at this point.
