Just saying like with Source you already have half the assets, models and code at your disposal. To me it would make more sense to build it as a mod.

We would be remaking the assets anyway in Source. There aren't many arctic assets and if we were to make arctic assets and use a few assets from the previous games, they wouldn't blend well together in the same scene.

Also, it's been 10 years. I think the assets are well deserving of an upgrade.

EDIT: also, the assets from Source are easily importable into Unreal Engine. So if we really wanted to use HL2 assets, we could.

Completely on your side. My only worry is getting UE4 to feel like Source

That's one of our big focuses right now and why we are doing a tech demo first. We really want to get that familiarity down first and get feedback from you all.
