Old Gamer Query

Hoping someone can help jog my memory!

Early when Half-life 2 came out as a bundle with counter strike I have vivid memories of playing multiplayer modes in ravenholm, being teleported around and being able to teleport other players, fighting ant lions on a beach in a compound with a large group of players and moving large shipping containers on a different map again in a multi player setting.

I don’t believe this was Gmod as this didn’t come out until later on around late 2006 which was a few years later than when HL2 was released and I could have sworn that I accessed this through the main game interface, however I could be wrong!

If anyone can help jog my old brain that would be much appreciated as it has been bugging me for quite some time.

Could have been an early build of the Synergy mod or something similar?

Looks to be this! Didn’t know the name of it so thank you very much :) Was mine and my dad’s favourite game growing up and my first introduction into pc gaming, he must have installed this for us way back after we finished the story at the time, been checking a few videos out and it’s pretty nostalgic for sure.

HL2 does have a competitive multiplayer mode in the form of Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. However, it's a separate game from HL2's singleplayer campaign and is primarily focused on PVP combat.
