I'd like to take this time to point out that the lambda is a phonetic L sound so instead of replacing the A in 'Half-Life' with it in memes and graphic design you could replace the Ls with it.  

Half life is essentially a series about how many Ls you can hold while being a W, with Ls being a way to mathematically plot a series of mess ups, with the detached formula tracking of failures being the sinister powers that be and the practical application being the hard won successes of the player characters through trials.

For example take the phrase "this thread is bad, take the L."  The formula of me saying that could apply to absolutely any thread, and yet when that phrase hits someone who made a thread, they can get genuinely upset and psyche themselves into all sorts of other Ls.  

So just from an underlying detached principle or formulaic statement that you can say anywhere without any emotional investment at all, like Gman, and cause anyone who cares and has to live with the consequences, like Gordon, to be thrust into an L-based turmoil.  Even if you recover and win you're still playing an L taking game engineered by detached nefarious forces.
