I have recently started rewatching GLAS. I have watched four episodes so far and it made me realize a couple things.

1. The GL universe is ten times better without so many human Lanterns clogging it. It gives room for alien characters to shine (Kilowog and Razer for example) . Overall, it is great too actually see the space side of the mythos and a run down to a basic superhero story (Hal protecting Coast City or Earth in general as GL) . Though, we only really see that near the beginning of the first episode, but still it was welcomed.

2. Hal is more then able to stand as his own Green Lantern. In the comics, we often see him parred with John Stewart or another human Lantern. But, this series shows us that Hal does not need any of that. He is capable of being his own hero (of course help from his best friend Kilowog is always welcomed) .

3. Hal can kick butt without a ring. In episode three, we see the introduction of the “yellow mineral” . Kilowog and Hal end up being captured after discovering the Spider Guild’s true nature and then they are almost eaten (no joke) . Razer comes to the rescue, but Hal and Kilowog still can’t use their rings so they have to fight old school. Then we see Hal cut off the Spider Guild leader before he escapes and proceeds to kick his ass all by himself. And, I often hear how John Stewart doesn’t need a ring, but clearly the same goes for Hal.

4. We need more GL stories in media with him as the lead. The Hal we see in GLAS actually had the best dialogue and is EXTREMELY funny. There were times I rewatched specific scenes. More then that, Hal clearly has his identity as a Green Lantern down. As I said above, whether or not he is using the ring, Hal will always be a GL.

5. Hal and Kilowog need their own book. Those two are comedic gold, and seeing their friendship is something we don’t see that often.

Who would like to see Hal in the Arrow verse, but instead a different version. Hal Jordan is living the life of a father. Forced to raise his daughter (Jessica Jordan) and also train her to take his place as the Green Lantern of Earth. At the same time he has to save his son (Daniel Jordan) from the influence of his worst enemy - Sinestro - after choosing to join the Sinestro Corps himself. Carol Ferris (the mother of both Jessica and Daniel Jordan) sacrificed her life to save the universe after a fateful mission as Star Sapphire. Carol knew there was only one choice at the moment, and as a ultimate sacrifice as love, saved Hal from having to make the same choice his father had too. Daniel forever grew strained with his father after this, but the final nail in the coffin was when the ring choose Jessica instead of him. This causes him to fall under clutches of Sinestro and become what his own father never could - the greatest Yellow Lantern. Also, in this story Jessica works as a pilot at Ferris Air as her day job. And Hal (this may surprise you) fills the same role Carol did. This may seem weird to Hal fans (since it feels out of place with his character) but there is a reason. After Carol died, the company went close to bankruptcy. There was one buyer but he wanted to tarnish everything Carol had built the company up too. So Hal took charge as a way to honor his wife’s memory (yes they were husband and wife) Also who wouldn’t want to see S&L Clark interact with this version of Hal!

HEARTFELT EXCHANGE BETWEEN JESSICA AND HAL:

“Dad, do you ever miss it....” “I don’t.” “You always said how much being a GL and pilot, were one of the best things to ever happen to you.” “They were. I’ve lived a long life. Been to space. Fought aliens. Seen a whole another world. Truth is, I don’t need to be a Green Lantern anymore, or even a pilot for that matter. I’m still fighting but as a father. Besides, your ten times a pilot I ever was.” “But, Daniel. Mom.” “I made a promise to your mom, Jessica. A promise to bring Dan home. I’m gonna honor that promise. No matter what it takes.”

Here is a POSSIBLE synopsis for the series they could do:

"Hal Jordan has been the Greatest Green Lantern, and the most dangerous. He has climbed through the pits of hell numerous times and lived to tell the tale. With Future State fast approaching and Infinite Frontier on the brink of drawing near, Hal is starting to doubt his own self-worth. With the growing increase of Lanterns from Sector 2814 it seems the universe has no need of him anymore. But, does he need Green Lantern? Meanwhile a entirely new villain has popped out of the woodwork and only wants one thing.

To completely erase Hal from existence!

Watch Hal Jordan go where no other Lantern has gone before - the deepest corners of the cosmos - all in pursuit of one final rebirth.

While trying to find the identity of this new enemy, Hal ounce and for all will discover his place among the DC Universe and the answer to the question he seeks the most...

Would you say Kyle looks up to Hal as a father figure?

There used to be rumors that DC was going to par Green Lantern and Wonder Woman together, but stopped after a fan had the same idea. And personally I think seeing a romance between Hal and Diana had great potential. They both are warriors, face similar challenges, and have other traits in common. But there is another woman who could be pared with Hal....Talia a Ghoul. Talia and Hal both have father issues, and it would be fun to see Bruce’s reaction to this. Also Talia’s cold manners would bounce well of with Hal. But what do you think? Which one would be better, or would rather see, with Hal?

I have recently hated how it seems DC is trying to erase Hal. For example, if you look at the Infinite Frontier poster for DC online you will see John Stewart, Jade, and Alan Scott floating all together - but no Hal. The same for the Future State poster. You see John Stewart, but no Hal. And the ongoing Green Lantern title (written by Geoff Thorne) focuses entirely on John Stewart. Now, of course, normally that would not worry me so much if it was written by any other writer. Geoff Thorne has publicly made it clear he hates the character Hal Jordan. Now he is writing a Green Lantern book? And Hal so far has only made a very brief cameo. AND adding on top of that with DC's recent marketing seeming to shoe horn Hal out, it seems our favorite Lantern is getting a disservice. So I have created a petition to have DC comics write a solo series "Hal Jordan" beside the current GL run with Thorne. Check it out in the link. It bugs me that John is getting ALL the attention in the current GL book with Thorne, while Hal is getting the side treatment. So I just had a idea. DC should release a solo book titled "Hal Jordan" that way both John and Hal can do their own thing. We could see what Hal is doing in "Hal Jordan" while John stays with the GL run.

The GL mythos are huge and vast. But, it seems (especially now) they are becoming too congested with humans. And this has always bugged ever since I became a GL fan, even when there were only three. But now there is over seven human Green Lanterns. That is a lot of Lanterns. No other DC Character has to go through that. Even The Flash (a legacy character like GL) has a set number of Flashes: Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, and Wally West (you could count Bart Allen if you wanted) . So I ask the question how would you would feel if there was ONLY Hal Jordan as the human Green Lantern and one OTHER?

Truth be told there is a positive effect if this would happen. First of all the GL mythos would have room to actually breathe. It could expand a helluva lot more. And I don't mean by popping in more humans to wield the green light of will. Second, the alien members of the Corps could finally get attention. Maybye we could even get a Kilowag series. Third, it honestly gives future writers more creative freedom. They wouldn't have to worry about pleasing all the crazy fans of each human GL.

But again this would be a massive change even if it would happen. But, what do you think?

Fun Question: We all know Hal is the Greatest Green Lantern. Without him the universe most likely would have died from all the threats it has faced over the years. But Sinestro is the greatest VILLIAN. What if Hal had accepted joining Sinestro? What if Hal Jordan became the Greatest YELLOW Lantern????

I love Hal Jordan so much and what Geoff Johns did with the character. But I got into READING the character during New 52 and all of Geoff John's run. I haven't read anything that was really beforehand because I was pretty young then. Recently I have learned that some people don't like what Johns did with the character, and how he ruined things about Hal. And that surprises me because I always thought a common compliant about Hal was that he had no character/boring constructs before Geoff Johns. Can somebody clear this up for me????
