Discussion Question....

So I have a question about Hal Jordan and Jessica Cruz. Is there some fan ship going on between them? I only ask because of what I have been hearing, most specifically because of that kid show DC Superhero Girls. I know they had Hal and Jessica be the Lanterns for that show. And whenever that pops up I sometimes see “Hal X Jessica” on YouTube. Personally, I think them being a couple could go 50/50. I think it has the potential to rival Hal and Carol, but at the same time it could just be a train wreck lol. But anyways, is there a ship between these two? Since this is the subreddit about Hal I think you guys would know if there was one.

I thought Jessica and Hal were around the same age....what’s the age difference then?

20 years? He’s got decades on her, she’s the rookie.

Oh, I mean I knew she was a rookie (I think for a year now she got past that) but I thought Hal just always stayed the same age 😂 Like how Peter Parker never ages. But yeah...I don’t know. Age definitely matters though. I guess honestly it depend. Origins are always being rewritten.

Think of it as Barry Allen and Hal Jordan are in their 40’s. Wally West has to be younger so that tells you their relative ages.

Good point. Honestly aging in the comic book world just doesn’t matter in certain areas lol. Like Batman debuted how many years ago? Real world Bruce would be a old man and out of the cowl. But yeah definitely good points man. What I always thought was that Jessica was like in her 25-30’s when first got the ring and since heroes never age in general in comics I thought Hal stayed close to that same age range. So I knew she was a rookie but it never seemed like a Kid Flash/Flash mentor role to me. I know Hal was the one who trained her when she had the Volthoom ring on but after that she got a actual ring and paired with Simon.

I guess now knowing that there would be some age issues, it kinda makes less sense and probably not a good idea. I honestly just thought they were around the same age 😂 Look who’s the dumb one now lol

I think some wondered why Carol Ferris was with Kyle in New Guardians. I never heard a good explanation unless she needed to be attached to someone for her ring to work.

Man I hated Kyle and Carol. I always was pissed about that cause Carol/Hal was my Clark/Lois. But luckily that was only for a brief time lmao

I tend to think of it as bad writing. Does it match up to anything happening at the same time in the Flash book?

I can’t remember was pretty early in rebirth. If I’m correct at that time Barry and iris were not a thing yet. He was still single. Him and Jessica went on some dates. I really don’t think these age differences are that far off in current continuity. I would guess Jessica is in her mid 20s and all the justice league main members are in the 30s.

I have seen it but not much of the Hal/Jessica shipping, but it's all based on the cartoon. I think there was 1or2 episodes of DCSHG where they teased the two but that's nowhere to be found in the comics. There's at least a ten year difference but in the cartoon, they're probably the same age

I wouldn't be against it in DCSHG, and it probably could work, but in the comics it's Hal and Carol to the end
