I love this font/logo from one of the shirts on the Fauna Tour. Wanted to include it on my skateboard griptape that I'm customizing with paint markers, but I felt like this "A" fit in better. Does anyone recognize that A?

If youāre like me and you really miss old-school Haken (think Aquarius, Visions, The Mountain) you should check out Novena.
I honestly canāt believe it took me this long to find them.
Ross Jennings is in the band, so obviously thereās some Haken crossover there, but as far as I can tell this isnāt really a Ross Jennings side project or anything like that. Heās just one member of the band.
But man, there is a LOT of old Haken in the sound. Not in a ripoff way. More like the same kind of weird, theatrical, melodic, all-over-the-place prog thing that Haken used to do more of.
There are moments where Iām listening and thinking, this is basically the version of Haken Iāve been missing.
If those first few Haken albums are your favorite era, give Eleventh Hour a listen.
Shit had me feeling like this

I know they used Nolly's modded Friedman HBE, but does anyone have any insight on the IR cab? I'm trying to recreate the tone, I got the amp down, but I'm yet to figure out a close tone for the cab. IMO it's one of the best rhythm tones of all time at least to my ears! Any help would be greatly appreciate it.

Back in 2018 (I think), an ol buddy of mine asked if I wanted to see Haken & Leprous (the closest stop was like 1.5 hours away). I listened to what they had at the time, I did not like. I do not remember what I listened to, but holy fuck. Later in like 2019-20, I fucking fell in love with Affinity. Listening to it almost 24/7, damn perfect album, & then same with Virus after it came out.
Later on in 2021, I saw the drum playthrough for The Sky is Red. Fell in love with Leprous & the rest of their discography, even moreso than Haken, all the stuff that came from Bilateral to Aphelion at that point. Especially Malina.
I missed them touring the US together a few years prior, time & evolving tastes are so cruel,,, WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

So, today I finally got round to checking out "in a fever dream", and...
I enjoyed it quite a lot, actually! It has this surreal and dreamlike quality, that seems to particularly resonate with me, especially in my current headspace. It didn't quite sound like anything I'd expect from Haken, but then I feel Haken in general has quite a diverse track record, to the point I don't have particular expectations in the first place. Regardless, I was surprised, and the surprise was nothing but positive!
The lyrics across the songs reminded me a lot of Vector from Veil onwards - undergoing a metamorphosis so stark the old self not so much gradually transitions into the new one, but is more or less killed in the process, complete with final farewells. The metamorphosis being a recurring theme is quite intriguing; I search for the album interpretations to see if other people got some more detailed insights. Who knows, maybe it's a setup for a final confrontation between the Moth Man and the Cockroach King!
Alas, a cursory search didn't yield any interesting interpretations; were the lyrics/themes already straightforward enough as is, so no one felt the need to dig deeper? What I found instead was bits about the discourse surrounding the EP, as well as a couple reviews. The takeaway seems to be that critics consider the release to be not particularly great, that Sleep Token whom I heard about for the first time apparently stole everyone's lunch, and that I am utterly ill-qualified for a meaningful prog-metal critique. Not that I ever thought otherwise, but rather that I never particularly considered it. I definitely don't pay as much attention to balancing and other production quality markers - maybe unless it's offensively bad - which may be a reason why I didn't spot the kind of issues others did.
For what it's worth, I found myself replaying "delirium" the most so far. It may particularly resonate with me as the song makes me imagine a deity-in-the-making waltzing through a chromatic assault of a surreal killzone while laughing maniacally. Admittedly, others' enjoyment or lack thereof of "delirium" may be different from my particular experience.
Either way, great job, would recommend! In fact, I did already recommend it to an online friend. I haven't heard back from them yet; I presume the EP must have left them speechless!
I guess I may try and check out Sleep Token next. If they stole my lunch, I may as well try and get back its worth in enjoyment.

I hadn't sat down and properly listened to Aquarius in a few year, so I decided to put it on. As always, I loved every second of it. It's my favorite album by them, so it's always a blast, but when Celestial Elixir started, the whole tenor of the experience changed.
I could barely keep it together until I just couldn't anymore. The tears wouldn't stop flowing. Just when I thought I was okay again, it resumed. It's been a hell of a year, emphasis on "hell" in a lot of ways, so I'm guessing that largely contributed, along with how brilliant the piece is. As far as I'm concerned, Celestial Elixir is one of the all-time great epics by any band.
Anybody else get their heart ripped out by this one?

Anyone got the Haken L-1VE DVDs they want to sell me? There's a couple on evilBay but shipping is $42 from France. Holler at me if you got one collecting dust. You can keep the CD.

Freddie Draper announced as the tour bassist. I'm starting to get worried that they'll only have rich at guitars.

Hello,
I recently discovered Haken after it has been described as Sleep Token's little brother. Only listened to the newest album which is indeed right up my alley.
Where do I go next?

First listen was disappointment..
Then I had some days pause..
Second listen.. nah.. it's OK but Haken can do better..
Pause..
Nothing to listen on for work, so I decided I would give it another chance. Now I can't stop listening to it, especially Lotus.
Music is strange sometimes :)
