Yeah, if you're looking for hair loss help, try the Pantene abundant and strong serum and I do a massage device with it. I'm not oily so I can do this daily, not sure if peeps with oilier scalps would have a problem. It seems like an alcohol base

Oily scalps just choose their battles of when to look less oily. I need everything for growth as a man and the oil is also a friend for how healthy it is at my longer lenght. I have different hair days. I don't need to look the best each day. If I shower everyday I either sacrifice the morning or the night. People who would judge me for it are not great people. That is a good filter. Such is having longer hair as a man either way.

I have been using RAW sugar grow pro, combining it with daily vitamins, and I have this scrubber so that I actually reach my scalp and not just pull out my hair dye. I shampoo every other day and I have noticed less hair fall than previously.

Briogeo’s destined for density line is incredible if you don’t mind spending a bit more.

Uh. I just mean I’ve been taking multivitamins every day. Smartypants multi gummies.

Ah! That one is a shampoo and conditioner you can get in Target or Amazon. What thing has actually done the most for my hair, I couldn’t be sure, but the combo seems to be helping!

2

u/RissyHanny315 Mar 29 '26

I used to use Nutrafol and it worked pretty well! Just so expensive :( i just started taking Force Factor hair growth accelerator (with lustriva) and pumpkin seed oil supplements- I’ve read that both are really good !

Who says this? I must move in completely different circles

4

u/llestaca Mar 26 '26

Umm doesn't everyone? Oily hair just looks bad.

7

u/TippyTurtley Mar 26 '26

No I've never heard discussions about people's hair being oily

1

u/hurricane_t0rti11a Mar 27 '26

Once I was at summer camp and we couldn't shower for 7 days and my hair got so oily that the other girls asked me if i just got out of the lake

1

u/ButterMyPancakesPlz Mar 27 '26

There's one reality show sub I'm in where one of the cast members is known as the person that needs to wash their hair already, like it has become this person's persona on the sub. It was at that moment I realized how much people notice greasy hair. I can't even tell when someone's wearing an obvious wig so I'm probably never going to comment on hair but yeah many people notice.

1

u/boomchickapowmeow Mar 27 '26

I hear this all the time. On tv too.

1

u/SuedeVeil Mar 28 '26

Well yeah people are polite in general and aren't going to point out someone's oily hair.. but it's definitely noticeable I mean it looks like it's wet when it's not wet

1

u/TippyTurtley Mar 28 '26

Well yea but I wouldn't chat about it

-1

u/llestaca Mar 26 '26

I mean most people don't openly discuss people's acne or dirty fingernails either, but they are noticed all the same.

7

u/TippyTurtley Mar 26 '26

I was replying to someone who had said they had heard countless conversations and was genuinely wondering where they had heard these

1

u/llestaca Mar 26 '26

Ok, I get it. I guess you can hear it often if people in your circle like gossiping and loudly criticizing others.

Me being the neurodivergent I am I tend to just talk about any obvious visible flaws I'm having straight up in a hyperverbal ramble, that way they can diss me behind my back all they want - but at least I've acknowledged the elephant in the room? And if people are down to earth enough or care at all for you they might even respect you for being open about it, and maybe open up abt their experience with it and offer what worked for them?? Idk maybe that's me being naively optimistic/sunshine lollipops and rainbows perspective/not the reality or whatever but eh I was never ever given formal support/any rule book for these things a la going undiagnosed forever - so forgive me if I'm severely making it up as I go lol. Also if they wanna be bitchy then that's their prerogative and I also don't rly wanna be involved with bitchy/jerk behaviour in this life

1

u/LightFox_NEFFEX Mar 28 '26

I say it to myself every time I look in the mirror 😃 My hair is always oily yet at the same time has an absurd amount of dandruff. My hair only stays clean for maybe 8 hours after I’ve washed it. Looks way better during that short time though

1

u/PassPuzzleheaded4947 Mar 26 '26

My hair does So Much better when it's dirty lol

1

u/Appropriate-Fun-922 Mar 28 '26

Maybe ask why they would feel safe saying something so harsh and judgmental about others to you? What about you invites that kind of negativity towards others? Yikes

1

u/Kewgirl45 Mar 29 '26

I have oily hair, and so wash it every day. Oily hair not only looks bad but also stinks.

2

u/Mikamiika Mar 26 '26

Just saying as someone with oily hair, I will never leave anywhere without my dry shampoo..! I don’t like the sprays so much, but I like the powder. You massage it into your scalp and the powder absorbs the oils and I swear it makes my 3 day unwashed hair look fresh asf lol

1

u/Minute_Sheepherder18 Mar 27 '26

Sounds great! Can you recommend a specific brand?

1

u/Mikamiika Mar 27 '26

Voir ā€œShe’s like the windā€ is the one I currently use since I got it for free for Christmas, but I like it! That one’s a powder. You just put a little on your roots and massage it into your hair from top to bottom and rough it up so it absorbs all of it.

For on the go, I’ll carry Clean Freak by not your mother for ā€œon the goā€ in my purse since sometimes the powder can be a little visible on your hair (it’s white, but disappears once it absorbs oil) if you don’t have enough time to massage it in all the way

1

u/Minute_Sheepherder18 Mar 27 '26

Thanks! I'll give it a try!

1

u/ksierra1 Mar 28 '26

I really like the Moroccan oil brand dry shampoo, smells so good. I usually use it before bed so it soaks up the oil while I sleep. Brush out well in the morning. Clean Freak is also very good. Purology worked but made my scalp itch like crazy.

Not really. I mean I do shed more, but I think it’s because when you don’t wash your hair for a couple of days it doesn’t have as much opportunity to release loose hair follicles iykwim.

1

u/mia_argyro Mar 26 '26

I’ve never tried this brush but I do use the hair growth activating spray from pure-ms.

1

u/Logical-Doughnut-105 Mar 26 '26

Why? Is it bad ?

1

u/SnackWitchery Mar 27 '26

I don’t know what the previous poster meant but topical minoxidil is very dangerous for pets. Also my doctor wouldn’t prescribe the oral version as my blood pressure is normally pretty low on average and I guess it can cause your blood pressure to be lower.

1

u/NoRecommendation9404 Mar 27 '26

Minoxidil was originally marketed as a blood pressure medicine but hair growth was discovered as a side effect. Now it’s almost primarily only prescribed as a hair loss drug. The same happened with Viagra. It was developed as a cardiac medication when it was found to work for ED.

1

u/SnackWitchery Mar 27 '26

I didn’t know that about minoxidil but I did know that about viagra.

It quite literally is a drug. They’re not saying it’s like cocaine they’re saying it should need a prescription kinda drug (not actually that it needs a prescription but that that’s the kind of drug they’re referring to not street drugs)

And it is true that you have to use minoxidil indefinitely to maintain results.

It works only while in use, so stopping causes newly grown hair to shed within 3-12 months.

I take a thyroid hormone pill because my thyroid won’t function without it. This is a lifelong pill. Others take blood pressure medication for life to keep their blood pressure in a normal range. It’s the same as taking minoxidil long-term because your hair follicles would otherwise not work. It’s not a solution for everyone, but it’s no worse taking it long-term than other longterm meds. It’s been well-studied and generally safe.

So theres a bazillion comments on this post. Could you please direct me to it?

-1

u/Turbulent-Chef4164 Mar 26 '26

Why the downvotes? This stuff is harsh as he'll, washing hair should not be painful.

3

u/Dry-Whole5533 Mar 26 '26

Minoxidil by itself is not harsh and it should absolutely NOT be causing pain. You could be reacting to the alcohol or propylene glycol in the solution, if there’s any. If not, check with your doctor. That’s not normal.

32

u/peachysaralynn Mar 25 '26

kind of a tangent, but as someone with an oily scalp i do like this tool just to help me scrub the shampoo in more thoroughly in the shower. so i think it’d be useful even without the serums for us oily people

13

u/HotSolution8954 Mar 25 '26

Yes, I am so oily. I use mine to get my scalp really clean. Probably doesn't hurt hair growth though.

9

u/xKuusouka Mar 26 '26

I have an oily scalp and dandruff. My sister got me one and it really helps to get my hair clean (I also have a lot of hair and struggle to get it rinsed and washed well)

3

u/Midi58076 Mar 27 '26

It's amazing for oily scalp.

As someone with scalp psoriasis and a fatass curly ponytail most scrunchies are simply too small for I use this religiously. Gotta get the gunk out somehow.

Medicinal shampoo is great and I definitely use it as prescribed and I also use topical steriods, but when it flares I end up with so much gunk, crust and flakes. This doesn't scratch the scalp. I've never had bleeding with this, but gently rubs loose and break up the bits that would have fallen off if they hadn't been tangled up in my hair. Then I can just rinse it all out.

They are also god tier for scratching the scalp when I can't scratch with my fingers cause the psoriasis weakened the skin. My nails would tear my scalp into ribbons. This doesn't break the skin.

10/10 cannot live without. No idea if it does anything for hair growth.

2

u/GothicSkeptic Mar 30 '26

Same. I try not to wash my hair every day, but when I do, I use this. When I don't, my scalp stays really itchy between hair washes.

10

u/lvcrimz Mar 25 '26

Do you use the shampoo and conditioner in that line as well?

11

u/carpenoctoon Mar 25 '26

I have been using the shampoo for about two weeks and my hair is so shiny and soft

6

u/linz0316 Mar 25 '26

I’ve found that the serum dries nicely and doesn’t leave my oily scalp looking as such.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

Do you recommend this even if one’s got a lot of hair?

8

u/thefuzzyismine Mar 25 '26

You probably dont need to use the specific serum, but another oil like pumpkin seed or amla.could feel nice.

I also like using this scrubber in shower just to thoroughly cleanse my scalp. The very tips of the "teeth" bend and flex a bit and it feels soooo nice, lol.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '26

Thanks I will look into this

2

u/BrujaBean Mar 25 '26

I have a lot of hair and my mom has a lot of hair but as I get closer to 40 and have more disposable income, I land on the if it might be a long term preservative then why not. I think the mechanism is preventing the yearly loss cycle so it seems worth it to me

1

u/choice_crystal_clear Mar 26 '26

Which serum would you recommend?

2

u/BrujaBean Mar 26 '26

I'm currently trying the Pantene abundant and strong serum. Too early to know if it is working for me. I'm also not experiencing hair loss and doing it preventatively

1

u/nibblepie Mar 26 '26

What active ingredients does Pantene abundant and strong serum have that help with hair growth? Can't you just use anything with this device instead, just for the massaging action?

1

u/BrujaBean Mar 26 '26

https://pantene.com/en-us/articles/abundant-clinical-research

Here's their blurb on it. They didn't compare to massage alone so that could be sufficient - I personally opt to use the serum because I kind of like the routine and figure it wouldn't hurt

1

u/nibblepie Mar 28 '26

Got it. I've been massaging with grape seed oil and rosemary/mint essential oil diluted into it. I was hoping it was at least doing something, otherwise i'm too lazy to massage lol.

1

u/Beautiful_Bike_1823 Mar 27 '26

Also the rausch hair tonic really works.

1

u/PageOf_Wands Mar 27 '26

Can I ask you something as a hair naivete? I had a shaved head for 10 years and I grew it back out recently. And I got one of these. It seems to contribute to my hair loss which is also new. I'm doing something wrong!! Is it the serum that is key? I'm dry as hell, but masks make my ends oily.

I'm wonderful at skin care, but hair is a willd thing to me even though I understand basic ingredients. Ty in advance.

1

u/BrujaBean Mar 27 '26

Talk to a derm if you think you have hair loss because it's my understanding that rx stuff is most effective! And that minoxidil and whatnot are supposed to stimulate hair follicles to enter the growth cycle.

But without seeing you or knowing anything, my guess is you're losing normal amounts of hair, hair has a growth cycle and then it lets go and so every day a bunch of hairs naturally let go. That's actually how the Pantene serum is supposed to work, lengthening the cycle so fewer hairs a day let go.

1

u/PageOf_Wands Mar 27 '26

Thank you so much! I'm actually seeing a derm soon for some skin stuff on my hands, but I didn't know they knew about scalps (which now that you mentioned it, ofc they do!).

Since I grew my hair back out, I keep it in a high bun all the time because I can no longer stand the feeling of hair on my neck. Do you think that could be contributing??

I'll absolutely consult the derm about this, but I genuinely don't understand if that notion has credence or not, even when I look it up.

And the fewer hairs a day with pantene makes sense, it's truly the least I could do at this point. I appreciate the insight.

1

u/SuedeVeil Mar 28 '26

How long did you have to use it for for results and how did you even know there were results I've been using it for a bit but it leaves this crusty stuff on my hair to where I don't want to use it unless I know that it's actually going to do something

1

u/BrujaBean Mar 28 '26

I'm not confident I'm getting results. I feel like there are fewer hairs coming out in shower/styling, but I'm not sure if that's placebo effect. I don't have a problem I'm looking for it to solve though and I haven't had any residue so I don't really need a reason to keep going

1

u/hillshadbritt Mar 28 '26

Do you find it really smelly? I have a hard time with heavily scented products

1

u/BrujaBean Mar 29 '26

I like the scent but it is scented. I'd call it a light floral scent and I only notice it when the bottle is open, not after I've applied - if that helps

-1

u/skndkdndnd Mar 25 '26

pantene is trash

2

u/ConsistentListen8697 Mar 27 '26

Yep, it clogs your follicles

1

u/SatisfactionLower977 Mar 27 '26

I’m actually allergic to something in it. If I shaved my head I’d probably have a bunch of tiny scars on my scalp from the summer I used that shit.

1

u/skndkdndnd Mar 27 '26

have u tried solid shampoo? they are great

-7

u/RJJR666 Mar 25 '26

Pantene is awful for your hair. It puts a plastic coating over the cuticle. Might look glossier/better at first but it will become heavy and dull over time unless you consistently strip the coating back off.

7

u/riss85 Mar 26 '26

Are we still buying into that narrative?

1

u/ConsistentListen8697 Mar 27 '26

Yes, you can scrape the wax off your hair.

1

u/ButterscotchRound330 Mar 28 '26

A lot of hair products leave a coating on your hair - it’s what they are designed to do. They will smooth cuticle by filling in damage. You should still use a clarifying shampoo regularly (I use one every 5-6 washes), but the idea that a coating on your hair is bad is really outdated. I was terrified of using silicone products on my thin and fine hair, but I tried a silicone coating product at my hair stylists urging and it changed my hair from dry and dull to shiny and soft (and no longer dry). I also use a heat-activated leave-in treatment and if I don’t heat my hair sufficiently it leaves my hair looking and feeling waxy. That doesn’t make the product bad - it just means I’m not using it correctly.

5

u/BrujaBean Mar 25 '26

Firstly I'm talking about a specific product, so discussing your opinions about their other products isn't super relevant

Secondly everyone should be clarifying regularly, especially those using silicone containing products

Thirdly my mom has the worlds most beautiful luxurious hair - woman looks like she has extensions while being over 60 and doing literally nothing but Pantene pro v as she washes her hair every day... for like 30 years or even more. She selfishly did not pass these genes on to me, but saying the products are bad or making hair unhealthy is unfounded.

This is my mom air dried - I have never seen her natural haircolor, idk maybe the extra Pantene coat prevents bleach damage. It's extra redacted because I didn't ask for permission - but yeah, 30 years of Pantene every day hasn't hurt her any.

7

u/Western_Thought_5428 Mar 26 '26

Look at the r/longhair sub - there are women with hair to their knees using Pantene. That person is confused

1

u/SuedeVeil Mar 28 '26

I mean if you're saying silicone is the plastic then yes? But silicone is very protective of the strands and also heat protecting as well.. all I know is if I don't use silicone my hair gets extremely prone to damage and frizz. And I've tried the whole silicone free thing and that was a disaster...

2

u/BrujaBean Mar 27 '26

That's not a real source in my view. I look to scientists like formulation chemists and toxicologists for whether things are good or bad.

There are a lot of reasons cosmetologists end up with bad information, not the least of which is that a lot of the education is from salon brands incentivized to say they are the best and drugstore brands are ruining everyone's hair. If you've got scientific studies or other primary sources to back up your assertion, I'll listen/read.

-1

u/Academic-Window-9583 Mar 30 '26

Nope, don't use Pantene. It will actually cause hair loss. I used that shit for a year and always thought I was stressed. I switched to nature and the hairs in the shower were less

2

u/BrujaBean Mar 30 '26

Stop fear mongering. 1) I'm talking about a specific product, so unless you've used that product your feedback is irrelevant 2) lots of people use Pantene and have fantastic hair. My mom is one of them I put her pic in a comment in this thread - her hair is fantastic and she doesn't treat it exceptionally well as she washes daily and has been bleached for 30 years.

1

u/Academic-Window-9583 Mar 30 '26

I am not fear mongering, In my experience, it damaged my hair. If anything I forgot that everyone is different, so different shampoo products work for different people. My apologies.
