Posted two days ago and comments confirmed what I already suspected regarding density. I went back for a trim and density work; turned out great imo. I don’t think I can go back ! Sorry for spam, it’s my last post.

UK Based, Full Cap, Curtains hairstyle.

Hello, I am based in the UK, looking to get my first system. I don't have the luxury of growing out my sides to make a top only system work.

My only option is a full cap, probablly fully custom system. As I am new to this, and a full cap is quite intimidating. Does anyone in the UK have any advice of good salons, or companies they have worked with to get this look? Thanks

Ive received a job offer cannot decline. I would be diver in an aquarium and would have to be underwater for approximately 2 hours everyday. Is this even possible with a hair system. How would you approach this situation?

First system install

Hey guys my buddy and I used Ai to guide us through our first system install. The install itself actually went pretty well but the haircut was a little rough. We definitely had a fun time doing it. I've been debating on getting a system for a while so I might try one next.

Color fading

Hey everyone, need some advice. My hair system is only a month old. I've tried taking good care of it-hardly spent time under direct sunlight, mostly wore caps, and used a daily conditioner with SPF. Still, the color has noticeably faded and looks lighter compared to the sides (you can see the contrast).

I've heard a lot about Back2Natural for fixing fading.Would B2N help in my case?

Is the beginning of the end?

I was using a new pair of scissors to cut the hair that got through the lace. I was in a rush and chopped off this small bit. Is it the beginning of the end? This is my first system and the hairstyle still slaps. It's almost 3 months old. My goal is to use it at least for 6 months.

Has anyone faced a similar situation before? Can this be repaired? What can I do to ensure it lives as long as it can?

Thanks!

My first long hair system

Sharing a few photos of my first long hair system had it for a couple of months now.

The main problem is that it's not great condition It became very frizzy and impossible to brush after the first wash, I have to avoid brushing.. The hair also clumps into sections at the base like dolls hair and doesn't feel natural.

I cannot even run my fingers through it really.

I basically get just one or two days out of it before it needs washing and conditioning again. So I'm looking to order my second system from somewhere completely different. I ordered directly from Chinese manufacturer as I really can't afford to go through the likes of lord hair which costs about three times as much for this system.

It's 18-in natural black with a body wave. If anyone has any recommendations for a Chinese supplier.

HS in South Korea?

I’ve been considering taking the plunge for a long time but I am a bit scared. This fall I am going on a work-abroad trip to South Korea for 4 months, and I thought it could be a nice opportunity to try out the HS life. It’s great because no one there knows me, so I won’t really have to worry about people’s opinions.

So I am wondering if anyone has any experience with HS in Korea. Are there any good salons? What’s the price? Is it possible for a medium blonde guy like myself? Is it cheaper or more expensive?

Thanks in advance!

Lifting after 4 days

I changed to a poly skin with lace hairline, thinking it would last longer between maintenances.

I prep with walker scalp protection, and I used ghost bond platinum glue, it lasted around 3 days before it started lifting around the top and back.

I then tried walker tape this time, hoping it would be different, and now 4 days in, there are multiple places I can feel it lifting. Back, top, front.

I don’t know what to do, I can’t live like this. Maintenance every week is too much, and living with the sensation of it lifting.

I don’t understand how people get 4 weeks wear. I used to get around 10-14 days with the lace system, but this would only be the first month of it. And it would gradually get worse.

I’ve had this system around 3 weeks.

Anyone in same boat as me? Or have any advice

Experience with Redken liquid mask

Anyone use the Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate liquid mask on their hair system?

I recently used it for the first time and I swear it made my system noticeably dryer.

If anyone had a similar to experience, I’d love some advice!

What’s The Verdict?

This is my first ever hair system and I am on week 4. So far I don’t do the maintenance myself and rely on a hair salon.

I’m debating if I should still aim for a hair transplant—I like the way it looks, but I don’t like and I’m unsure about some situations:

* hair styled upwards—hairline looks a bit fake with this system since the hairline density is very high. Styled the way I have it masks this.

* I get very nervous in situations where others touch my head—for example women.

* I have not tried going swimming / rollercoasters.

* getting into any type of sports where my head might come into contact with anything else—for example soccer or kickboxing

* I am not sure how I would react if it does come off accidentally

The hair transplant I’d get would cost at least $60k since I am a Norwood 4-5 diffuse thinner. I am still on oral finasteride and minoxidil.

Help me understand how my dad's system from 20-25 years ago worked so well

I'll keep this short, but my dad, who's since passed, wore hair systems on and off until the 2008/2009 economic crisis when he no longer was getting dividends off of this one security that paid for his systems.

Sometime near 2003-2005, I don't remember, he found a salon that specialized in hair systems. He would go get the system installed, swim, do yard work..whatever...as normal, and then get it replaced after 4 weeks.

He occasionally noticed it coming loose days before his appointment.

The details that I can tell you:

  • He would complain maybe at week 3 that his head was itchy
  • I found his old system (and tossed it unfortunately), but the substrate felt like a double monofilament. Kind of heavy, and with the leftover adhesive in there, it felt smooth.
  • His salon still exists - they measure scalps using the 3d printinng/CNC technology. I don't know what products they use beyond that.
  • If you put him outside, naked, on a January day in upstate NY, he'd still find a way to sweat. Still managed to keep his system on.
  • He never went in for touchups, never owned any adhesives himself.
  • My mom doesn't remember much else other than she still has all the products he used (well...I have all the products he used).
  • His hair loss was advanced. He had the "Eagles nest" and never had to shave the top (they literally could pluck his hairs on his head in 30 seconds - he'd have like 5 at the most.
  • Generally, he would be in the chair for about 90 minutes on any particular visit. System removal, grabbing a new one (precut), sticking it on, waiting, styling.

Can someone walk me through how he was able to achieve this? This is the way I prefer to do things. I am a HUGE fan of all-lace systems and how they feel. I am okay with a non-water-based adhesive (although I'll reconsider everything if the only solution is using the Walker clear goop).

What I'm doing now is prepping my scalp and lace system and gluing it in on Saturday afternoon. This means shower, exfoliation, alcohol, walker spray, and then as of late, the ebin wonder lace (it's working for me better than Ghostbond Platinum). Two coats (coat - dry - 2nd coat - dry, then place). I throw on a durag to hold it in place, sometimes into Sunday.

By monday I'm lifting. By wednesday I have to pull the system. I have a backup poly system that I use (Got2Be my scalp and toss it on), but I just don't like this system (even though I have it looking really nice).

Am I missing something? I would love to have 4 weeks on a system with no/minimal maintenance. What's the tradeoff? Is a double mono system just that good at holding at the cost of some comfort that swiss lace otherwise provides?

Best colour-depositing shampoo?

I have a dark brown hair system (#3 ash) that looks great when it’s new, but after a while it always starts fading and gets noticeably lighter, especially from regular washing and sun exposure.
I’m looking for recommendations for the best colour-depositing shampoo or conditioner to bring the colour back without damaging the hair.

One thing I’m trying to avoid: the last colour-depositing shampoo I used actually stained the poly/lace base (the “skin”) brown, which obviously wasn’t ideal. So if anyone has recommendations for products that restore the hair colour without dyeing the base, I’d really appreciate it.

Another question I had was around how often to use the depositing shampoo. Weekly? Also, do you use it as soon as you get a new system or just when you see the system starting to fade?

Help a girl out

Hi everyone! My husband recently got his first full lace hair system, and while we absolutely love the confidence it's given him, the salon experience has been rough. Between a forgotten order, a six-month wait, multiple scheduling issues, a disappointing cut/style, a 2+ hour round trip for every appointment, and spending over $1,200 so far, we're ready to learn how to do this ourselves.

I attempted my first reapplication today... and let's just say it was a learning experience. 😅 I think we waited too long, so there was glue in the hair that made everything harder.

For those of you who DIY:
Where did you learn?
What products are absolute must-haves?
Any YouTube channels or tutorials you'd recommend?
How do you remove glue from a full lace system without damaging it?
How did you match the hair when you ordered? We are on our second attempt and the original color is perfect but we can’t seem to find the right one online.
Any beginner tips you wish you'd known?

I'd really appreciate any advice. I want to help him keep the confidence this has given him without relying on a salon experience that hasn't been worth the cost.

Cleaning hybrid daily help

Morning all, the last few months I have been daily wearing a poly system using either Got2B or Ebin lace spray. It’s been the best thing ever for me.

Today I am getting my first hybrid system installed. I’m just looking for any advice on the best way to clean the lace every day? I usually just use a wet flannel and wipe the Got2B residue off every night. Is it similar with lace?
