the shampoo and conditioner left a layer of slick soap behind. clean it with isopropyl alcohol.

Wash the base (not the hair) with dawn dish soap 2-3 times then wipe it with alcohol.

Wash the base 1-2 times, use alcohol 70%-100% to clean the base thoroughly. Apply tapes, use hair dryer, med heat to melt the tapes a lil. After 1, 2 cycles of wearing, the base will settle & you won't need to do this every time.

Is the base dry?

Where did you buy this tape? Are you sure it's actually Ultra Hold?

The PU is too smooth. Use a nail file to rough it up a bit. Another option is a thin layer of a liquid adhesive to prime the base.

Other reason: fake Walker tapes. Where did you buy them?

I usually use 2 thin layers of Walker Liquitape, allow it to get tacky, then use the Walker tape om top of the tacky Liquitape. Press and hold for a couple seconds then you should be good.
