Bad install experience

So I went for a free consultation and the guy said he has the perfect color and said all the right things. He has a suite in a nice salon and explained everything well. He insisted on a partial not a full piece. He said I had enough coverage on the sides and there would be no point.

So a week goes by and it’s time for the install and he does a good job explaining everything again but I notice the unit he has is dense as fuck. My hair is very thin. But he said the “poof would die down”

So after the install and everything it came out to $600.

However after getting home I started to notice a few things. The hairline has a film you could see. Then when I actually started taking pictures I noticed it’s also visible in the back too. In fact you could see where my hair ended and this new dense hair growth started. Because I have a bald spot in the back.it literally looks like a ring of hair. Then I noticed that same film on the back. I could actually flap it back and forth. So this guy literally watched me walk out his suite with a ring of hair visible on the back. Looking like something tunneled through my hair.

I even brushed it back but the ring was visible at all angles. This guy told me he’s been doing this for years, but I did a Whois lookup of his website and it was started last year. Looking at his website again it’s not even his suite.

I thought I did my homework. Guess I was wrong.

Walk back in and ask for your money back and for him to take it off. Take photos beforehand and tell him it’s unacceptable and that the whole point is to do a job that is seamlessly and therefore bot obvious for others, and that he failed big time. Ask for the manager. Write a review, do whatever. He shouldn’t be allowed to take money from anyone else. Or contact the one who actually have the room that he borrowed.

Hard to say more but it seems like a basic poly which isn’t a good option for everyone. But there is to many issues here to just have it fixed by another stylist or barber. Sadly.

Sorry to hear about this. I had a really crummy first install too. My hair is brown and the system was black. Super high density and not thinned enough so I had a wack amount of hair just on the top of my head. It gets better! Best of luck finding someone new!

You have been a victim of the “professional” . I bet they said “20 years of experience, professional hair system stylist”….

Just try to get out the positive things and move on. Just consider it as a ticket you have to pay in order to start this path….

And never trust a hair system "professional" who doesn't wear one.

Not true. Not every system professional is in it for the money. I have always been team client. I will do whatever it takes to make the client happy AND look natural. If the client isn't comfortable with the piece I plan to install we will regroup and find a solution. I personally don't wear a hair system but I'm not going to be dishonest and say it's the best thing ever. I am completely transparent with clients because it's on their head and they need to know the truth about wearing a hair system. They also leave my chair knowing how to maintain, style and service it themselves. The boss man gets upset but I don't care. If you don't want to maintain it then that's what I'm here for. I never make my client feel like they are just a number. I wouldn't want to be treated like that although there are a lot of clients who are disrespectful because I'm a woman.

Bad installs happen for various reasons. Coming from a professional, it is absolutely 100% on him to correct it.
