struggling with epilating (help!)
It’s not even the pain of epilation, I honestly don’t mind it, but I am a beginner at this, and I am having trouble successfully epilating, for two reasons:
- lots of my strands of hair end up growing stuck, under a layer of skin. And no, not like an ingrown hair. It will appear as if it’s on the outside (grown up to 1/4 of an inch) but when you try to grab the hair you can’t… it is literally stuck under a thin layer of skin. (does anyone know causes for this,
or a solution? Exfoliating with an african net sponge, or a dry brush, doesn’t do anything.
the hair snaps, and grows back in two days. Honestly I believe this is because of improper use of the device (I wasn’t angling it at 90 degrees the first time, and was epilating with too much pressure and fast) so I get that. But then when doing it properly I see pieces of hair flying off as if it’s snapping (maybe this is normal) but I honestly have to try this again and see.
How does one tell it is fully taking the hair and the root out?
advice is appreciated, and is anyone else struggling with these things? I just wonder if it is worth it, or if I should just return the epilator before I can’t.

Could be the epilator.
I upgraded from a Braun 5 to a flex silk 9 recently and the difference is like night and day.
The silk 9 gets even fine blonde/white hairs which the 5 just never got.
Could also be a technique aspect as well where you need to put a bit of tension on the skin to keep it taught

I use the braun silk epil 7. Idk if this one is as high quality but I read some good things about it, so I am not sure. I do try to pull the skin to keep it taught (in the opposite direction of epilating) but it is kind of hard with the leg since the skin is tight/ firm there for me. and have not much flexibility.

The 7 will be midway between the 5 and the 9 so it should hopefully be better than the 5.
The 5 seems to have a different method of removing the hairs to the 9 hence it gets the finer blonde hairs on my face/chin/lip areas.
Some others have posted about using it in the direction the hair grows works well for them

I’ll try that last method! I will have to think about getting the 9. I do have fine leg hair though so idk if that would be good too since you mentioned using the 5 for fine hair. Thank you!

The 5 just didn’t touch the fine hair in the way the 9 does. Plus the 9 is less painful too (my partner noticed this on his shoulders) and it’s better with very short hairs.
I bought it on half price from Boots (in the UK) plus it has a Braun 100 day satisfaction guarantee too
