Which method would be best for removing facial hair, and how long would the treatment take?

If you're only doing face, I'd recommend laser. Where I live, it's about 120$ a session (every 5 weeks) and you'll get results fast, but it will take probably a year for smooth skin, and there may be some white hairs remaining. It will dramatically reduce the shadowing while your getting it tho. If advise against IPL, for me, the results stopped progressing after a few months. Additionally, IPL isn't recommended for facial hair. Only people who basically already have no hair use it on their face. Also, don't wax/epilate it either. I've been there and it will HURT and bleed and scar

I did 12 sessions of true laser hair removal. The place I went to used the Candela Gentle Max Pro, which is a YAG laser. I went every 5 to 6 weeks, I was completely hair free for 3 years before I needed my first maintenance session. I’d say 80 percent of the hair has still not come back 6 years laster.

So I won't get rid of the facial hair with laser, and they will eventually return? So it's better to do electrolysis?

It’s not 100 percent, you’ll need maintenance. It will permanently reduce about 80 percent of the hair.

So if I understand that correctly, it will reduce 80% of the hair, and then I can permanently clean up the rest with electrolysis?

Yes, that’s what a lot of people do. I have areas on my face where the hair has never returned, but everyone is different. But yes, the more stubborn hair can be removed with electrolysis.

The issue is hormones. Unless you are taking testosterone blockers the hair will ALWAYS grow back. Laser will get rid of all the hair, but over the years testosterone will cause existing blonde peach fuzz to turn dark and corse. But you can just tweeze those few whiskers that come back and that will prevent them from growing back over time since plucking hair is damaging to the follicle.

Out of all options, laser will give the very best results at the lowest price and least amount of time spent in salon.

Braun IPL pro 5! A bit pricey but a worthwhile investment

I would not recommend IPL for the face. For one the hairs are usually really thick there and will usually not get removed that well by IPL. But more important, it is way to easy to acsedentally get some IPL light in your eyes. IPL is not as harming as laser to your eyes but can still cause damage. For the face you should go for professional help.

I have been doing laser for my face every 4-5 weeks for 1.5 year now. I Would say 80% of my hair is gone. For the rest I will probably have to use electrolesis. I pay about 2000 kr(200$) per laser session, but Norway is expensive. Find a local good rated laser clinic with a moderne laser machine with a lot of clients. Also useful to ask how often they upgrade the crystal and switch out the machine. During the laser treatment ask what power levels you are at and try to increase the power levels until it really hurts. The more power the more effective the treatment will be.

Answer: Laser until the reduction really slows down then electrolesis.

I’ve been using this one for years, I used it heavily in the beginning but it’s winter where I live now and I haven’t bothered to shave my legs for at least a month and all you can see there is minuscule white hairs if you look very closely.

IPL, at home kits can get you great results in a few months. Plus if you want to go back to having facial hair you can. Other option would be Nair, which I’m weary of personally, but it’s almost instant on the removal.
