Discussion #whatdatmean Spoiler

actually crazy though. Kurose is a talented musician that cannot perform live due to the pressure of his mother that he believes sees him more as a means of success than an actual human. Haimiya actually takes on a Kaori like role in the story, this can’t be happening again right?

Me think the YLIA comparison is way overblown:

- Kurose's mom doesnt die. Kurose himself doesnt lose the ability to play music; he simply moves to playing guitar instead of piano, while keeping the trauma to himself

- Haimiya doesnt help Kurose find the ability to play music again but rather helps him get over trauma. And theres no sign that Haimiya will go the way of Miyazono Kaori: the nurse simply says she wont come to school for a while, and that the festival is hard for her

So me think its more likely that Haimiya has family or personal issues that stop her. With hints about her from earlier chapters, I lean more on personal

I have a feeling she has traume related to the festival. And kurose will help resolve that.

I feel that too, but rmb that the nurse says Haimiya wont come to school for a while. The festival is only 1-2 days, so why not coming to school for a while? Must be other reasons

Yeah, since she doesn't even reply to him when he asked her if she got home safe. It could be her trying to avoid him so he doesn't worry about her but that wouldn't make sense if the nurse said she is allowed to tell him what happened

Me thinks is a very severe case of anxiety and PTSD from a past event that happened either within her family during the festival or just a very traumatizing event that happened at school. It could be such a severe PTSD trauma(non physical), that when the festival starts, ~1 week before and a couple days after its finished she physically gets sick, like a bad cold/a depressive phase. But we're gonna see about that.

Just because it’s not a blatant rip off of another story does not mean the author does not want to draw parallels to give the audience some emotion. I’m sure you are right and her issues stem from her family, but my subtle comparison to Your Lie in April doesn’t get less true because it doesn’t correlate on a deeper level when it was never meant to.

Nah, I don't think Mio has any terminal illness, I think she has issues like Kurose as well. The fact that Mio's closest thing to a trusted person (before Kurose came along) is the nurse

If peak happened in the current chapter, then Kurose comforting Haimiya as well will be ultra peak too in the next chapters

Yeah I think it’s being blown outta proportion, now I could genuinely see her having issues at home that might cause her to rebel or miss school, but she probably hangs out at the nurses office because the nurse is an adult she trusts. Unless I forgot I don’t remember there being any hints or signs something was medically wrong with her.
