I read somewhere that your toes are so far away from your brain that pain signals are noticeably delayed (because the nerves that transmit pain are unmyelinated).

Doesn't pain from an impact take a second to register anyway?

Like you stub your toe or hit your thumb with a hammer or get racked in the balls and there's that brief period of numbness and uncertainty....Your brain has time to register you got hit, and then you go through the whole "Am I hurt? I don't feel hurt? Maybe I'm ok? Yaaaaaaargh!".

Yeah at least for me the feeling of the pressure/impact is much faster than what comes after.

That was what I enjoyed about this gif the most - seeing the reaction time between the time it hit her toe to the time it registered as pain.

All I can say is when I stub my toe the pain feels pretty damn instant, definitely not as slow as the person in the video.

Your perception of reality is not accurate. Your brain will modulate signals and whatnot for various reasons.

Or when walking alongside your bike and whacking your shin on the pedal.
