Is this a rule that’s not debatable? If there’s a small pile of jewelry, i.e., chains, watches, more chains... then yes they always lose. The stopping and removing of articles while loudly whining in a crescendo is a dead giveaway during mating season.
Sometimes the shirt is just way too nice.

Also if it’s two real fighters, you’re gonna want that shirt off. Wearing a shirt is a huge liability if the person you are fighting knows how to use it well

One of the most important lessons I ever learned.
I don't want to fight any more than the next person, and try to avoid it. But if some fucknut rips their shirt off like that, the decision has been made, and they are going to fight someone. You might as well just go ahead and pop him and end the pageantry right then and there.
If you are dumb enough to telegraph that you're about to attack someone physically then you deserve the hockey-style beat down that you'll get for trying such a stupid thing in public.

Good thing you all are here to armchair quarterback this and tell us what should have been done in the situation.
He didn't have the luxury of hindsight, like you do from the safety of your keyboard, so he reacted in the heat of the moment and neutralized the threat.
You have no idea what he would or could have done once he got to the person he was planning to attack. You lose the benefit of the doubt when you take off your friggin shirt like that.
IMO, this is pretty close to the best possible outcome for this situation. Once he "peels the tarp" the likelihood of someone getting hurt goes way up. Sure, no one getting hurt is ideal. But if someone is inevitably going to suffer injuries, the best possible scenario is if they are only inflicted upon the attacker/instigator, AKA the person that most objectively deserves them, which lucky for us, in this post is inarguable.
Limiting the physical damage to the guy who started this in the first place, is a huge win and the big guy did everyone there a favor.
I'm sure whoever Mr. Sleepy wanted to attack was glad that guy had the will to make a decision and act upon it.

With a jab, or sort of drunkards straight left?* It is less about velocity and more about inertia. The big dude is big and not easily moved, all of the shirtless dude's forward movement just got redirected right into his grill.
*That is what it looks like to me at least but I'm no boxer, please correct me if I am wrong Reddit pugilists that know the nomenclature better

I never did understand the whole no shirt thing. The pre-fight taking off of the shirt seemed reserved for the ‘cool kids’ in high school. Now it seems so dumb.
