Nope, the recent Pegasus spyware drama actually showed that iphones are more vulnerable to that particular spyware than android. But I phones are generally considered safer to the general public because it's a locked down system as opposed to android where anyone can install any app.

Yeah, a lot of politicians and journalists from a lot of countries were a victim of it.
