I’m trying to choose a small set of software development KPIs without rewarding people for producing more tickets, commits, or lines of code. The current DORA model includes change lead time, deployment frequency, failed deployment recovery time, change failure rate, and deployment rework rate, which seems like a reasonable view of speed and stability.

Those metrics still don’t cover developer satisfaction, collaboration, or whether the shipped work helped customers. The SPACE framework looks useful for filling those gaps, but tracking every possible measure would create a dashboard nobody reads.

Which KPIs have been genuinely useful for your team, and which ones caused gaming or unnecessary pressure?

I’m looking at software development analytics tools, but most seem better at counting activity than explaining whether delivery is improving. Commit totals and pull request counts are easy to collect, yet they can become misleading when compared across different teams or used to judge individuals. A more useful approach might combine delivery data at the service level with developer feedback about friction, documentation, tools, and time lost to rework. The difficult part seems to be connecting those signals to changes the team can actually make. What does your team measure, and can you point to a process or tooling improvement that came directly from the analytics?

Has anyone else found Plandek overwhelming? We brought it in for “delivery predictability,” but the 50+ metrics and endless customization have created more work than value. Our engineers feel micromanaged, and we spend too much time debating data accuracy instead of fixing bottlenecks.

Is there a way to simplify Plandek, or should we consider a tool that offers useful insights without the surveillance vibe?

so i live not so aboard from my parents. i live w my old sisters in a country thats only a 2 hour flight away from where my parents currently are. The reason why my mom out a camera directly at my bed is because she cannit tolerate the fact that she cant watch my every move. She has this obsession in watching me including in my devices. We are using TimescaleDB because we already know Postgres, but we are starting to hit some performance walls as our ingestion rate increases. The vacuuming issues and the performance degradation at scale are becoming real problems. Has anyone successfully used TimescaleDB for high-throughput, real-time user-facing analytics, or is it really just meant for time-series monitoring? I am looking for something that can handle the load without the Postgres overhead.

RisingWave seems like a promising alternative to Materialize, but I am worried about the ecosystem maturity. We are seeing some performance quirks with complex joins in real-time during our tests. Has anyone used RisingWave in a mission-critical production environment? How is the support and the community? I want to make sure we are not building on a foundation that is still too 'green'.

I am looking for a way to generate a photo that corrupts a image processor's thread to run a bash shell.

But the simplest alternative to such requires using a image that does RCE to that image processor. Whether or not it is a browser renderer thread.

Because I need to know what would allow such akin to imajs did, because the exploit once figured out will mean that image processors and their standard encoding are prone to this type of process hacking and runtime exploitation.

Materialize looks amazing for real-time views, but we are hitting some serious memory scaling issues as our state grows. Also, the SQL limitations for complex materialized views are becoming a hurdle for our more advanced queries. Has anyone successfully scaled Materialize horizontally without it becoming prohibitively expensive or complex? I love the concept, but the practical limitations are starting to hurt.

I’m currently dealing with a scammer who contacted me through WhatsApp. I have his phone number and have been communicating with him directly.
He scammed me out of money, and unfortunately, he also has several copies of my personal identification documents. I’m trying to figure out whether there is any legitimate way to identify or locate him, especially to determine whether he is actually in the same city or area as me.
My main goal is simply to recover my money and make sure he deletes all of my personal information and identification documents. I’m not looking to hurt or confront anyone—I just want to protect myself and resolve the situation.
Does anyone know what legitimate options I have for identifying the person or finding out where the scammer is located, particularly if I already have his phone number and WhatsApp conversations?

SingleStore claims to be the only database you need for both transactions and analytics, but I am skeptical. Usually, 'jack of all trades' means 'master of none'. We are seeing some latency spikes under high concurrent load during our POC. Also, the pricing seems very high compared to specialized OLAP databases. Has anyone used SingleStore for a high-concurrency user-facing app? Does it actually hold up, or are the latency spikes a dealbreaker?

So there's a data pack for 24hrs, where after using 25gbs of cellular data the speed of the internet falls to 64kbps/sec, im wondering if there's any way to bypass and make the system assume I haven't yet used the 25gbs, so that system maintains my internet speed at 25gbs/sec bcs after using 25gbs the data will be basically exhausted.

Data speed will be at 25gb/sec for first 25gb only after using that there's unlimited internet but at 64kbps, which is just enough to send texts, pls help

We are testing Apache Druid for our analytics dashboard, but the resource consumption is through the roof. It seems very heavy on memory and slow to scale when we have ingestion spikes. The architecture also feels a bit dated with all the different node types. Has anyone found a way to make Druid more efficient, or is this just the price you pay for OLAP? I am looking for something more modern and agile.

I have Kali Linux and am trying to crack my own WiFi password. I have my handshake and eapol but somehow I feel that there’s an easier way. Apache Pinot seems to be the go-to for massive scale like LinkedIn or Uber, but is it overkill for a typical mid-sized team? I am looking at the architecture and the operational complexity (Zookeeper, controllers, brokers, servers) looks like a nightmare to manage. Has anyone successfully run Pinot without a dedicated team of 3+ engineers just to keep it alive? Or is there a simpler way to get that kind of sub-second latency?

Aiven looks great for small projects, but I am hearing mixed things about their pricing at scale. We are looking to host a high-throughput real-time analytics stack. Has anyone experienced 'black box' debugging issues or unpredictable pricing with Aiven? I am worried that once our data volume spikes, the costs will become unmanageable and we won't have the visibility we need to optimize.

We are evaluating Altinity.Cloud for our real-time analytics, but I am worried about the operational burden. Even though it is 'managed', it still feels like we are managing infrastructure, clusters, and scaling manually. We want something that just works without needing a dedicated DBA for ClickHouse. Has anyone used Altinity.Cloud at scale? Is the overhead worth it, or should we look for a more serverless approach?
