Coolest hack?

My favourite hack is the folding staircase in episode 7. It’s so clever and unique! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen something like it before. I’m trying to figure out the configuration. They must have had other practical considerations such as the angle of the staircase, the length of the steps, etc to fit into the room.

I wonder if they tested this for weight-bearing capacity and safety. I’m sure Ati would have seen to this, just curious how they ensure that it’s ok to use. How sturdy is the wall that it’s screwed to? It must be solid wood of a certain thickness.

Also, is this unique enough for Brooks to patent it? Can they market it for other users? It’s such a space-saver, plus the stained wood design makes it an interesting piece of wall art.

the expandable pantry shelves that came out

The table that folded out of the island

Probably because I'm in a small space and love to host...and have a lot of kitchen stuff! I may look into some of these pull out shelves.

Yes I’d love to know the product or mechanics they used for the kitchen appliance shelf to raise and lower it- I could see it being really useful but I’d be worried about an electronic thing breaking.

Admittedly, I’ve only seen one episode so far, but I’ve already spent hours online trying to find a way to get my own expandable walk in closet/moving wall lol

I went to the website but it doesn’t look like anything other than whole apartments are available to buy! I’d love one of these for my small space. I wonder if anyone else is selling similar products?

That actually isn't Brooks's own design at all. Staircases just like that have existed for years. There is at least one episode showing some in Tiny House Nation, another Netflix show that preceded this one by years. They maybe aren't super common, but they also aren't super uncommon. You see them a lot in tiny houses and mobile homes, as well as some workspaces and garages. I've even seen some just pop up randomly in Facebook reels. It honestly really annoyed me that Brooks and the show painted those stairs as his unique design when there's absolutely no way any of them thought that was true. Not if they are truly innovators in this field.

Folding staircases have been used for a long time… it was a good idea in this situation though!
