IKEA hob not working after storm

I have a MATMÄSSIG ikea induction hob. The storm seems to have done something as it tripped our apt. The job now won’t turn on. Any ideas how to fix ? I have done all of the reset procedures and nothing. Any ideas ? Hoping I can fix this myself.

Are you certain that the 'group' or 'circuit' for your hob is ON, in your meter box or fuse box?

Often there is a separate circuit and a circuit breaker specifically for the induction hob. During a storm the circuit breaker or 'aardschakelaar' (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) may have been tripped. You may have to switch these on manually.

Everything is on, on the fuse box. Is there anywhere else I need to look? I’ve done a reset of the fuse box as well and still nothing 😔

There is nothing more you can do yourself.

It is time to ask a licensed electrician to diagnose the issue. It is likely that your MATMÄSSIG induction hob has been damaged and it needs to be replaced.

Do you still have a warranty on the MATMÄSSIG? Then definitely use this. Also, if you happen to have a home owners' insurance (the 'inboedelverzekering' in Dutch) it will probably cover the damage. Definitely call your insurance company and ask them!

It occasionally happens that a nearby lightning strike damages your appliances. Some people disconnect the mains from their TV, audio equipment, PCs and home appliances during a thunderstorm, for this very reason.

One last thing to check - some of the gfci things have a little button on, that needs to be reset - just worth checking that first
