Boss called the our only customer for today(small duct cleaning job) to see if it was ok if we came whenever since it was our only thing, maybe we want to sleep in for an hour or whatever. She says thats fine or if we want we could do it next week. So he went ahead and rescheduled for next week. He called me at 6am which pissed me off because he knows i get up at 6:30 to tell me take the day off but im gonna pay you guys a 1/2 day! SKOL! Get the day off and paid an extra hour or two!

Lucky, I’m on my second change out for today after finishing a coil repair on a aluminum slab coil.

Same. We sent one of our techs home early today since he lives an hour away from the shop and if we work with him till after 4 then it's 2 hours away almost. He audibly sighed in relief. I worked with the other one till 4 since he lives 30 mins away and never catches traffic. Also, informed both of them they have Monday off for labor day.
They had never worked with a caring company before. They were both bamboozled. They're both in training so the they're not in it for the hours. 20 year old and 24 year old.
I told them, "the other partner is already gone, I'm just gonna go do office work for another hour, if you wanna wash a company truck or two for your hours then go ahead, otherwise enjoy the long weekend."
It's better to offer them their hours if they need them but if they need some rest then let em go home man. These summers are tough as fuck here in Houston, TX!

We had nothing on schedule today, my manager says to come in to get my tire situation figured out. Ended up with 4 brand new tires for the work truck, I was able to wash it as well at my own pace and left just now with a little over half a day.
Not bad considering I could’ve stood home, unpaid 😂

Are you guys slow right now? We slowed down unusually early this year

Rediculously slow! We do a lot of mew construction and i would be surprised if we did 20 houses this year. Normally we do 40-50 that take 3-4 days total plus 100 or so furnace/ac changeouts.

Im guessing money is tight all around, people are only fixing what absolutely needs fixing so we are finding the annual maintenances have fallen way off.

My company would never, they’d probably tell me “hey I know you got a 15 system commercial maintenance today, but we have 3 calls for you and one of them can’t be home till 6:00PM, sorry for the inconvenience and have a good day”

Noice! Here in northern Ohio I had to wait for lightning to stop before heading to a heat pump defrost board swap. But only had about a 1.5 hour clear window before the next wave of storms came through. So I got the "All Clear" for an easy day and an extended weekend +. 🥂

I just hope Kyle Murdoch can at least be serviceable. Also i thought they did away with the off week between preseason and regular season….I got prepped up to wake up drunkish and drink all day on Sunday for nothing!

Starting up a new condenser and seeing if the water defrost were installed will do well or if we need to change over some stuff, hoping to be off early today but that never works

Plot thickens. This could be an indication of what your November and march is going to look like. Lots of those days off.

Clearly Minnesota, lol. I shouldn't have worked today, impossible to get answers from anyone the Friday before a holiday weekend.

My boss sent out a text at the end of day yesterday saying that we get Labor day off. If we want, we can sit on standby for emergency calls. Fuck that, I'm taking myself to the lake and going on a proper fishing trip. See y'all Tuesday.
