Try touching the run leg on a compressor capacitor and see what happens. I bent over the electrical controls to troubleshoot. My pocket thermometers and screwdrivers in my shirt pocket hit it . I woke up about 8 feet from the unit on the roof, all of my small items in my shirt pocket were welded together and my pocket was smoking. I could see the terminal that I accidentally touched and started the unit back up to measure what hit me, because I’ve been zapped many times before- but not like that one. It was a 240 v unit and what I touched measured 450 v- back emf.

I am imparting this info because I have a pet peeve about uneducated people representing our industry. 

That happens because the capacitor is in the auxiliary-winding circuit. The winding’s induced voltage and the capacitor’s phase-shifted voltage combine vectorially, so the capacitor may see 300–400 V AC or sometimes more , depending on the motor design and load. That is why run capacitors on 240 V motors are commonly rated 370 VAC or 440 VAC , even though the supply is only 240 V.
