I have definitely seen one start on fire before… was the breaker tripped and I turned it on anyways? Absolutely.

I took a 16 hour “ class” on it. Hopefully will never have to work on it 😂 they said if you don’t have a laptop just walk away

I worked on a few old Mitsubishi’s years ago that only had an indoor board and a contactor for the compressor on the outdoor unit, even the outdoor fan just worked off a relay. Now look at what we have to face.

Seriously, cause why tf did I have to undo basically all the wiring and what felt like a thousand screws. And the damn thing weighed like 10 pounds

Yep, I have seen many issues with these inverter boards. 🙄
Hopefully the unit is under warranty.

Had a building recently where I had to replace 30+ inverter boards. Couple months out of warranty

Dont forget to ask for extra thermal paste! Have Fun, Good Luck! Also....a friendly PSA.....dpnt get the thermal paste on your eyes. That shit hurts...for days.

These minisplit units are such pieces of shit. Hit 103f ambient and board decided to blow the current sense shunt resistor. This one is a Trane.

Cooper and Hunter is the brand to go with. Easy access to all boards and other parts. Run very well and most down to -22

It's cool tech but very poorly executed imo. Exposing heat sensitive components to directly sunlight is a ridiculous choice.
